Study: Men who idealize large breasts are more likely to be hostile toward women
Viren Swami and Martin Tovée at the Universities of Manchester and Newcastle, respectively, look into the intricate world of why physical ideals are ideals, and in turn why they drive people beyond reason and morality in the current Archives of Sexual Behavior.
The problem is primal, so the research methods are not to be outdone. 361 white British men were “taken to a quiet private location” to look at women. Not real women; 3D computer renderings. The men were allowed to rotate them 360 degrees. The only difference among the women was breast size. …
Swami and Tovée compared the results with the men’s preferences in breast size, which showed that “men who more strongly endorsed benevolently sexist attitudes toward women, who more strongly objectified women, and who were more hostile toward women idealized a large female breast size.”

Well I guess that explains why I’m not hostile toward women. I’ve always been a face man.

If you’ve got it, flaunt it.

My wife is…put together…and I can guarantee that not only will she reject my advances but would probably kill me in my sleep if I were in any way hostile toward her.
Actually she would wake me up to tell me to enjoy me last breath and then kill me.

I guess it depends on how far she has to stand from the counter while making a sammich.

I’ve kind of always been drawn to women that are… proportional. Seriously, if you can’t get along with them it doesn’t really matter what shape they are. I really hate these kind of studies.

This passes as science? Right. And what about homosexual men who like large… oh well. I guess we’ll never see a studty like that.
It’s only the men who like real breasts we have got to fear. We need more men who hate breasts. They’re so much nicer.

Perhaps there is a positive correlation having large breasts and being a bad mother.
YiZhangZhe on March 14, 2013 at 10:41 PM
This means being polite to women merely because they are women. Hint: The researchers feel this is a bad thing. I suppose they wouldn’t object to you being polite to a black person, say, merely because the person is black – unless it were a black woman, maybe?
That is, just sees them as ‘things’ not people – it would be like writing a play totally from the perspective of a vagina, for instance.
Presumably, this means even more hostile than politely thinking of women as giant walking, talking vaginas.
Well, really, if you’re going to hold some sexist, objectivist, and/or hostile attitude against an entire subset of the human race, isn’t it easier to do so if you can readily tell they belong to said subset?

That’s because they were nearly smothered as infants by their overbearing mothers’ huge breasts. They transferred that hostility towards all women.

Anti-Rape Lesson #23: Keep your breasts small. Small breasts are less likely to incite violence.

So in other words, men who never grow out of being 8th graders are more likely to act stupid toward women? SHOCKA!

Most interesting thing about this study is looking at the questions used to identify “hostility” and “sexism.”
And, I might add that men who idealize large breasts are likely to be “not gay.” I wonder if that was controlled for.

BTW, I’m a face/hair man, too, but this study is just more junk science.

I thought this title was Men who idealize large beasts are more likely to be hostile toward women.
What a disappointment. I thought there would surely be some interesting claims. But no. And large
breastsudders are nasty. Never got the whole big boobs thing. And women buy into it way more than men. Probably projecting their own attitudes about men’s sexual pieces.Daikokuco on March 14, 2013 at 11:25 PM
Wagnerian breasts with the winged helmet and the braids and the horse and the sword and so forth are okay, but it takes powerful, tanned athletic thighs to run me down and imprison me in a vise-like grip.

Background for rational people, i.e., people not steeped in the academic language of sexism. “Benevolent sexism” refers to attitudes that were once considered gentlemanly in society, such as women should be put on the lifeboats of the Titanic, men should open doors, etc. These benevolent attitudes sustain the outmoded idea that there are differences between male and female, which differences are actually only social constructs. These social constructs, while favoring women on the surface, in fact hinder them by legitmizing, to some degree, the other forms of sexism. “Hostile sexism” is belief in traditional gender roles, and opposition to and antipathy toward women who challenge traditional gender roles, i.e. liberal women. Hostile sexism does not imply hostility toward women generally, but hostility toward people like Sandra Fluke, Janeane Garafolo, Rachel Maddow, or those whom Rush Limbaugh calls femi-nazis. “Benevolent sexists” put women on a pedestal. “Hostile sexists” have disdain for women that don’t want to be put on a pedestal. “Hostile sexism” in this context has nothing to do with violence towards women and everything to do with a liberal agenda of discrediting men who believe in traditional gender roles by calling them “hostile” and therefore threatening and dangerous.

So, if I admire a lady’s large breasts and want to go out with her, she should decline the invitation and stay home because I am scientifically proven to be hostile toward her?
I’m trying to grasp the practical application of this study. It sounds like a scam by small-breasted women to keep the competition off the streets.
2ndMAW68 on March 15, 2013 at 6:13 AM
Uh, define “idealize” please. While we’re at it, define “large” as applies to breasts. Seems to me there is more of a political statement in this than a science statement. It also seems that statement is that “men who like women for their looks are azzholes.” Gays and ugly women have been saying that for years.

Yet another “study” that is really nothing more than an excuse for guys to look at women’s breasts. Which I don’t have a problem with, except that it is probably taxpayer funded.

I’ll just pop in to say, it doesn’t matter what size they are, as long as ya got ‘em! I don’t fixate on breasts, or legs, or any part – I fixate on women. *waggles eyebrows* C’mon ladies, bring it!

Since there seems to be no concensus on this, I think we need further study. Ladies, pictures please.

I find large breasts comical, and not in a good way.
