My 14 year old doesn’t have access to an Ipad. His computer access is restricted to the family computer in a shared area, and his phone does not have a data plan-so it has no internet access. We are horrible parents..

In all seriousness, an iPad is the most locked-down Internet capable device ever. You can restrict almost everything, including locking it to only one app.

Not saying he should have one, but don’t take this article seriously. It’s extremely easy to restrict access to naughty videos or whatever on an iPad. Much easier to limit than a desktop or laptop computer.

The other option is to not give them access to the iPad at all, but that’s absurd.

Funny, this isn’t a problem in Mormon or Amish households.

Doubt the former is so pure…I was repeatedly told by the only daughter of a Mormon bishop that I was sheltered, though she wasn’t looking for p0rn.

As for the Amish (and similar groups) I’m sure it’s easy for reclusive ultra-fundamentalists living on mostly-isolated farms in a religious socialist community. For the rest of us, not so much.

Well, if the Parental Safety built into the OS doesn’t take care of that I figure the DNS rerouting will. But thanks for wishing me luck.

You’re rerouting the DNS at the last connection to your Internet, right?

BTW – disable booting from optical drive or USB device in the computers BIOS. You can re-enable this if there’s ever a need, like if you need to rebuild your computer, otherwise your kid can literally stick in a CD or thumbdrive with a “live” operating system and bypass everything on that particular machine, and making one is stupidly easy.

Just for clarification, so you are okay with an 8 year (cited in the article) being exposed to porn becuse kids have ALWAYS found a way to learn about the forbidden?

More likely just part of the crowd that tries to tell us that our sons are not better than animals and so we shouldn’t even attempt to protect their virtue or teach them self-control.
