French minister: The world “needs dictators like Chavez”
Victorin Lurel described Chavez as a cross between French General Charles de Gaulle and reforming left-winger Léon Blum, who served three times as French prime minister.
“De Gaulle because he profoundly changed his country’s institutions, and Blum because he fought relentlessly against injustice,” he told RTL radio.
“I’ll be criticised for saying this, but the world needs more dictators like Hugo Chavez, if it’s a dictator that he actually was. He showed a strong respect for human rights.”
Lurel described Chavez’s funeral service as “moving”, adding that “while not everyone can agree with all his policies and actions, the people here are very proud of what he accomplished in 14 years.”

There is no shortage of dictators in the world who like Chavez rob their countries of billions for their own personal gain.

Chavez is still dead, dead, dead.
May the ants have begun to eat him, alive.

I am on vacation in Peru, Chile and Argentina and have been so since Chavez assumed room temperature.
I had been open to some kind of immigration reform but no more: these people have little in common with us and will never be our voters. Chavez is looked upon very favorably in this region, and I almost spit out my drink tonight when some futbol on TV was interrupted with this 3-minute puff piece tribute to him. Seriously, it was like Nork TV.
Most people here are nice but there is basically no middle class and the majority of people live in squalor (by our standards). These are also the same people keeping these left-wing strongmen like Chavez in power and would do the same if given the opportunity in our country. The scales have fallen from my eyes.

I just love how the hate America, anti-bully mob is mourning a murderous, thieving, third world dictator; which is what bullies become when they grow old.

I agree, more dictators should be dead.
