McCain on GOP senators’ dinner with Obama: “Great,” “wonderful”
Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., gave the meeting a thumbs up as he exited the hotel, saying it was “just fine,” “great” and “wonderful.”…
“The president greatly enjoyed the dinner,” the administration official said.
But did they make any progress?
“We’ll see,” Sen. Tom Coburn, R-Okla., told reporters.

Translation… They stared accross the table at each other uncomfortably and picked at their dinner. Then the President lectured them about how Republicans like killing babies and puppies.

Most kids learn by the age of 7 that when a parent says “we’ll see” it almost always means “no”.

Strangely enough all of the senators had to have patches applied to the knees of their pants after the dinner.
Rand Paul was kicking ass while these fuds enjoyed a lavish taxpayer-funded dinner.

The juxtaposition of those old timers and establishment types dining with Obama while Paul and a few other up-and-comers(and Wyden) trying to deal with a serious matter on the Senate floor couldn’t be more stark.

Perfect.
Someone needs to mash the clip of Coburn with Marge Simpson driving Homie and Lenny and Carl around and Lenny wanting to go get ice cream and Marge saying “We’ll see” and Lenny moaning “That always means ‘No’. “

Still don’t get it?
It goes like this. Obama is friendly with a vibe of serious concern for whatever problem he is addressing. He “reaches across the aisle”..gets agreement. Implements what he wants with a promise of acting on concern of the R’s.
Gets his way, and slaps his knee laughing..”I don’t believe you fell for it again“

So the dinner was worthless. My Senator, Corker was one of the one who attended. I wrote his office and told him that it was a disgrace that he was off to dinner with a President who never compromised and with a bunch of Republicans who will end up surrendering our position while Rand Paul and other fought for our civil liberties on the senate floor– as my Senator he needed to get his priorities straight- smooozing and surrendering or fighting for the individual.

Machiavelli – enemy of my enemy…
McCain and co. are lapdogs for DOD spending.
They know Rand has no problem reigning that spending in.
Obama will let it flow – if he gets the domestic legislation he wants.
Watch for this triangulation. It’s coming.
As for McConnell – he supported Rand because he’s up for re-election, they’ve become friends and he doesn’t like Barry.
Guy to watch out for now – Paul Ryan. He’s falling way behind the pack.

Obama is also going to use it as a PR ploy. Look American people, I tried to compromise, I even wined and dined them and paid for their dinner. They are still the no party even though I did all of that.
melle1228 on March 7, 2013 at 9:46 AM
They should have been in the Senate helping Rand Paul, but why state the obvious?
Fallon on March 7, 2013 at 9:47 AM
Thats about it.
Why are they going to fall for it again??

John McCain has always been nothing but a fraud. He has leveraged his time as a POW to maximum effect, and that is the only reason he ever got elected in the first place. Far too many people mistakenly believe being a POW makes one a hero.

You better believe it – AND, of course, the media was barred from the event, but the White House photographers and videographers were there in force, gathering material for obama’s next big propaganda push.

How nice that you had dinner with the man who villifies you day in and day out. What a bunch of worthless idiots.

Out: Juan McCain.
In: Judas McCain.
I find it inconceivable that anyone is listening to McCain. It’s time for him to step aside for the likes of Cruz, Lee, Rubio, Paul, and others who have a brain, and who can actually communicate, and who will have to live with direction that McCain wants to “lead” us.
BuckeyeSam on March 7, 2013 at 10:08 AM
Why didn’t they do both?
A couple showed up afterwards, but why were not all of them in chamber right up to the point of the dinner, to then to return after it was over?
They had the option. Most turned it down completely.

Why mention Mitch in this? Mitch Didn’t go to the dinner. Mitch showed up at the filibuster.
Dusty on March 7, 2013 at 10:17 AM
Cruz, Lee and Rand Paul, yes. BUT, unfortunately, Rubio backs McCain 100%, and, he has been working directly with McCain, obama and the Gang of 8 to ram obama’s amnesty plan down our throats. It’s time to abandon Rubio, because the direction that he wants to “lead” us in is exactly the same as that desired by McCain.
The GOP must to conservatism.
