“I think a lot of people are confused by what he hopes to accomplish”
“He’s going to have a lot of friends in that room, and there are going to be a lot of people who will appreciate the sacrifices he and his family made over the last several years,” Keller said. “But anyone who knows Gov. Romney either professionally or personally knows he’s not the kind of man who rests on his laurels. He has a constant energy about him, and he’s not the kind of person who’s going to withdraw from politics and give a big farewell at a CPAC speech.”…
Romney’s generally positive relationship with CPAC over the years notwithstanding, the conference has not been roses for him in every instance. Despite winning the straw poll last year, the lasting headline from the event was the candidate’s assessment of himself as a “severely conservative” governor — an off-key characterization that left many activists wondering if he was trying too hard to speak a right-leaning language that does not come naturally to him.
And Romney’s appearance at this year’s event has left some of the event’s participants scratching their heads. “I think a lot of people are confused by what he hopes to accomplish,” said one scheduled CPAC speaker, who spoke on the condition of anonymity. “It’s pretty clear that he doesn’t want to take a formal role as a candidate in the future, and he had never previously been a thought leader on conservative issues.”

The old guard, still prepping for the last war that is already over. When McCain is one of our loudest spokesman, I guess it is to be expected.

Maybe he wants to come apologize.
Knott Buyinit on February 27, 2013 at 10:54 PM
What is confusing about Romney? The only thing he has ever accomplished is progressive goals.
astonerii on February 27, 2013 at 11:00 PM
I’m sure all the wackos were calling Romney A RINO PROGRESSIVE RINO when he was beating Obama’s skull in at the first debate…Lolz
therightwinger on February 27, 2013 at 11:28 PM
Romney is a good man, which unfortunately is probably why he lost. Fine by me if he wants to speak.
crrr6 on February 27, 2013 at 11:29 PM
Romney was a good man. He just wasn’t up to the task of defeating BOTH the first half-black precedent and a biased, dishonest media.
He should retire gracefully, enjoy his millions and his time with his family.
HumpBot Salvation on February 27, 2013 at 11:56 PM
My lord, he shouldn’t be kicked to the curb. I imagine that he will thank people for their support and relate what he thinks was done right and what he thinks was done wrong.

Resting on his laurels would first require victory.
Stoic Patriot on February 28, 2013 at 6:19 AM
He should just do another comedy bit. He was surprisingly good at that.
forest on February 28, 2013 at 6:57 AM
Actually that’s the only time he sounded like a conservative which explains why he was beating Obama’s skull back then. But then he returned to his progressive RINO self and we saw what happened.
bgibbs1000 on February 28, 2013 at 7:37 AM
I was doing just that. Or a close approximation.
Romney said a few good things there, great, but with a lifetime achievement of 0 on conservationism’s goals he is going to have to back up those words. I watched it at the Romney election place. If Romney can back that performance up with a George Herbert Walker Bush “Read My Lips, No New Taxes” level pledge that locks his second term into whether he acts on what he says, that it is immoral to hand off to the next generation this kind of debt, he will gain my support.
We all know what happened after that ACTING PERFORMANCE, don’t we? Romney went back to his lazy worthless ways. Romney is only that active always in motion person for two items. Getting paid and promoting progressivism.
Does Romney deserve laurels for having run for president? No, he does not. At least not from people who want a more restrained and conservative government. Romney spent his entire primary season attacking conservatism and conservatives, marginalizing them with his paid advertisements, but more importantly his paid hacks, HotAir most certainly played their part there, to tear down anyone who started to get momentum against the Romney machine. Once the dust settled, and the money and false flag conservatives accomplished the goal of making Romney the nominee, where was that fervor for attacking and bringing down the opposition? No where.
If any one group deserves blame for Obama being in power today, the one I will pick will be those who attacked Newt with the, Newt is attacking the foundation of our nation, capitalism! It was a concerted effort that could not have came from natural beginnings. That was the quo in quid pro quo that Romney and his allies partook in. I have no clue what Romney offered, but it certainly had better be worth more than your souls!

Who cares – it’s February 2013.
I’m still on the mat – knocked down from November
jake-the-goose on February 28, 2013 at 8:10 AM
How so? Here in MA he did things like:
1. Assault weapons ban and all sorts of draconian gun laws which have impacted gun violance not one bit.
2. Allowed the courts, over the objects of the people to ram SSM up our backsides. No pun intended.
3. Mandated healthcare insurance which has resulted in some of the highest insurance costs in the country and hasn’t covered nearly as many as promised.
4. Expanded the welfare rolls.
Oh, wait. You said ever . Sorry I misread it as never. I guess it is a bad day to give up coffee.

The only positive thing about a Mitt presidency was the very slim possibility that he would nominate slightly right leaning people for SCOTUS. He is not and will never be a social con and the problem is that, in my opinion, a government official cannot lean socially liberal and fiscally conservative. They must be fiscally liberal in order to create and maintain their socially liberal programs and policies.
Dr. Frank Enstine on February 28, 2013 at 8:21 AM
And WHO was sworn in on 20 January 2013? Mr Severly Conservative, he of the awesome first debate performance or Obama?
JFKY on February 28, 2013 at 8:50 AM
Why is it that people always have to know what is going to be said before somebody says it? Thats why you listen to him speak. He’s probably going to thank people for their support and reflect upon the jouney and then finish up by discussing the road ahead and what he believes the challenges are. Is this really that difficult for people?

Versus what we have squatting at 1600 Penn. Ave, Romney is indeed a very good man.
