Coming soon to Texas: Drones for border security?
Asked if Texas should buy its own drones for use in border security, Abbott said “I would, it would be something to think about because with the drone you can actually see what is happening on the ground and it could help establish whether those objective criteria were being met.”
Abbott acknowledged the potential for invasion of privacy problems with drones but said he believed those worries could be satisfied.
Earlier in the discussion, Abbott listed having objective criteria for determining whether a border area is sufficiently safe and secure for residents as a pre-requisite for resolution of immigration issues currently being debated in Congress.

Sweet. Then we can have a birds-eye view of the brown Zerg Rush across our borders…and still be unable to do jack cr@p about it. We can barely catch a few of them on the way over, can’t arrest hardly any of the ones who make it, and have no serious deterrence whatsoever. Not even as much as a mandatory tazing.
Unless said drones are packing rockets this won’t change a thing.

As long as they’re armed and cutting down on expenses, I say go for it.

Sure it will, it gives the democrats a talking point while not having to actually have to accomplish anything. It gives the Republicans another point on which to throw themselves on and set off for maximum self inflicted damage.

I thought we were going to dig a moat and fill it with alligators.

Obama will use the drones against those who try to enforce laws he doesn’t want enforced.

What makes me think they’re not for keeping people out of the US?

The Rio Grande already has alligators in some places. We need more.
Our border policy should be:
Any person, animal, vehicle, aircraft or vessel that attempts to enter the US without going through a customs port of entry shall immediately be shot, blown up, shot down, or sunk. No questions asked.

Just government practice so that they can be more effectively used on the real target- those troublemakers who actually want the borders secured.
NO drones over America.
Period.

Why does an open borders country need drones to watch the border?

As long as they’re carrying Rockeyes, it’s okay with me.
