Ben Carson: The White House wanted a sneak peek at my National Prayer Breakfast speech
“I told them that I don’t have an advance copy because I don’t write out my speeches and I don’t use teleprompters …they asked more than once … I gave them the [Biblical] texts around which the remarks would be framed … I said read those texts, the remarks will be framed around those … that should have told them something,” Carson said in an interview with The Hill this week…
He says the Republican Party needs to quit paying lip service to minority communities and start forming a plan to win them over…
Carson concedes “it’s a tough road,” because Republicans must compete with “poisoned candy” of promised government handouts. Still, he said, the GOP should “try to gradually educate people as to the long-term effects of not developing their potential and where that leads.”

Yeah that, or we could just stop supporting policies that jail them for profit over victimless crimes and tear their families apart. but what fo I know, that’s just a random thought from an politically incorrect racist who thinks minorities have a drug problem.

The WH is full of Lilliputian constitutionalists and one Adolf-aspiring narcissistic Fool.
The good Dr. Carson is still a free man.
If the Adolp-aspiring fool succeeds, it won’t be for long.

That probably really confused them.

Good for you Dr. Carson not giving bho/team a heads up! What you did was surprise them and they had no way to stop you!
Keep up your faith and convictions, Dr. Carson.
Too bad we don’t have but a precious few elected who would do the same?

Yeah, turning a blind eye to drug abuse and the tearing apart of families that results from it is a much better solution than what Carson said.

You would think….but Obama was too busy playing golf and too busy giving the same speech (just slightly reworded) that he has given for the last four years for the 10,000th time. You know…Republicans hate poor people and kill children, I need more power, it is all Bush’s fault, I am a god so now worship me….you know the same old…same old…
William Eaton on February 27, 2013 at 1:01 PM
Off Script speeches or messages around Obama are strictly prohibited under Federal statute FT120.168b which is found in the Obama Laws & Liberal Freedoms act passed in 2011.

You can bet your bottom dollar the Obama Campaign goons will never let anything like that happen again.

Couldn’t we just recruit this guy to be president?
CurtZHP on February 27, 2013 at 1:05 PM
“Then how do you know what they want you to say?” replied Obama.

Heh, unlike Odumbo, this guy actually got ahead in life on his merits and hasn’t coasted on racism and affirmative action.

So, I wonder if the White House previewed and signed off on Rubio’s SOTU rebuttal? That would explain a lot.

“Poisoned candy” sums it up perfectly.

Dude’s speaking at CPAC this year. Don’t tell me there won’t be hundreds of “Carson for President” signs all over the joint.

Don’t be crazy. He doesn’t have the experience of the current pResident. He’s only a world class surgeon. It’s not like he’s a community organizer or something:)

On a serious note, I look forward to learning more about Dr. Carson and his policy positions. From what little I know of him so far I like what I hear.
D-fusit on February 27, 2013 at 1:41 PM
He shouldn’t have made political statements at the prayer breakfast thing. Even though a lot of what he said is correct.
That just means Al Sharpton or some equivalent gets invited next year to Al Sharpton things. You won’t think that is so great.
Moesart on February 27, 2013 at 1:46 PM
I imagine the WH staffers’ response to that was something like: “He wants us to read a Bible?!”
rcpjr on February 27, 2013 at 1:54 PM
can we just make him president right now?? he can sit in the empty chair that is currently in the white house.

*L* They were probably worried after Eric Metaxas’ speech last year, which was also quite brave.

Amazon must have had a couple of his books on backorder. I ordered America the Beautiful and Gifted Hands on 2/9/13. They are to be delivered tomorrow 2/28/13. That is pretty long for Amazon.

President Obama was not impressed, saying, “I don’t write my speeches either!”

This has the Jacksons & Sharptons and others like them totally upset.
Harry Alford, the president of the Black Chamber of Commerce, praised the National Rifle Association in his speech at the event.
“The National Rifle Association was started, founded by religious leaders who wanted to protect free slaves from the Ku Klux Klan,” said Alford.
“They would raise money, buy arms, show the free slaves how to use those arms and protect their families. God bless you. Many of us probably wouldn’t be here today if it wasn’t for the NRA.”

This was at the National Press Club in D.C. about a week ago. Well worth the time to watch this. 1:14 time length.

Remember his solution about attaching an HSA to each birth certificate, as his health care reform idea? Great idea.
Now, Obama’s plan. I have insurance licenses as a producer and I am doing the CE courses which are required for maintaining these licenses. I am currently studying the 2 credit Obamacare act. Of course they don’t call the course by that name. The more I am learning about this program, the more I believe it will implode before even 2014 is over.
This is going to make the midterm elections very interesting next year and possibly drive Dr. Carson’s desirability as the GOP candidate to a very high degree of momentum.
karenhasfreedom on February 27, 2013 at 2:39 PM
I hope so. I think many of these Red State Governors that recently signed on to the Medicaid Expansion are going to find themselves out of a job in 2014. That is unless their Legislators vote it down. The American people hate Obamacare and they know it. $$ talks tho to some.

A Seventh Day Adventist, with four books published by Zondervan, the Bible publisher, Carson debated famous atheist/physicist Richard Dawkins. That is serious
From Wikipedia, On taxes:
Political affiliation: independent:
According to Wiki, Carson had to reduce his surgery schedule because of prostate cancer. My relative, a surgeon doing microsurgery, had prostate and health issues. Once you start a delicate procedure, you cannot always hand it over to someone else. This is a great battle. People do not always grasp the sacrifices of medicine
I look forward to his speech. Carson is outside the loop of schemers and deceivers. It is a pleasure to listen to an outsider with analytical skills
As for the WH, I always assumed the Prez had some aide pull up Bible quotes for him out of a famous quote book. THe Prez is not deeply into Christian doctrine, as when he pulled his WWJD evolution on gay marriage, or when he talked about deciding to become a Christian. You can’t decide to believe something. Faith is not a choice.
If the Prez was going to talk Bible at the prayer breakfast, it wouldn’t matter what anyone else says, because faith is not a competition
