Poll: The future of the Hispanic vote may be just like the present
Hispanic adults more closely resemble non-Hispanic blacks rather than non-Hispanic whites in terms of having a cohesive political identity that remains intact across all age groups. While Hispanics do not identify with or lean toward the Democratic Party to the same degree that blacks do, there are few generational differences among Hispanics and among blacks. Democratic identification significantly outweighs Republican identification across all three age groups…
The key issue looking ahead is the future political identification of the large group of young Hispanics as they age. If the political preferences of their middle-aged and older counterparts are any guide, it appears that young Hispanic adults will remain lopsidedly Democratic throughout their lives. There is also no generational evidence at this point suggesting that they will become more Republican. Indeed, given the stability of political preferences across the three adult age groups, it is reasonable to project that new Hispanic adults — those who turn 18 in the coming years — will continue the Democratic Party’s advantage among this group.

Oh well then lets just let everyone into the country. Or why not just annex the whole of Central and South America. Either way.

The collapse of the welfare state will change things. If demographic changes bring about permanent Democrat majorities then that will just increase the number of takers and reduce the number of makers and accelerate the collapse.
Not everyone can ride in the wagon.

This is what I have been saying all along. We are going to pander and go for amnesty all in the hope that all these hispanics suddenly swing Republican. It didn’t work for McCain despite his years of hispanderingSo instead of getting beaten we are going to get creamed because of all the illegals suddenly can legally vote against our Republican a$$es.. Nothing like Repubs to vote against our best interests.

Why should Hispanics vote for a party that will cut taxes they don’t pay and will cut government benefits they DO receive?
aengus on February 26, 2013 at 10:31 AM
They’ll never be majority Repub, but that’a not the goal. The goal is to keep getting 35-40% of them, and not let them turn into a 95% Dem block like blacks.
juliesa on February 26, 2013 at 10:32 AM
Once we give them amnesty and put them on welfare, they will vote 100% Republican! All of the “Smartest People in the Room” say so! /

Gallup’s premise is flawed. The answer to the question is that no, the political preferences of “their middle-aged and older counterparts” are not a guide. Gallup’s premise is based on there being no change to the status quo. I think when it comes to analyzing Hispanics in this country, assuming no changes to the status quo is naive.

So, the goal is to constantly lose them but by a slightly narrower margin then we lose blacks?

In just what universe, may I ask, is 30-40% a “slightly narrower margin” than 90%?
MelonCollie on February 26, 2013 at 10:56 AM
You can’t have high illegal immigration and a generous welfare state. It’s unsustainable.

ChunkyLover on February 26, 2013 at 11:21 AM
Exactly, so what’s with the claim?
MelonCollie on February 26, 2013 at 11:25 AM
Demographics will eventually tear down the welfare state as one tribe will not want to pay for the other tribes’ benefits.
Punchenko on February 26, 2013 at 11:34 AM
More like the one tribe will run out of pre-stolen money at the welfare office and go get some from the other tribe on their own.
At which point we’ll have to face some very ugly racial, moral, and demographic truths.
MelonCollie on February 26, 2013 at 11:47 AM
Then we should probably get busy focusing on ways to do that instead of focusing on a policy that won’t.
xblade on February 26, 2013 at 11:51 AM
the claim is yours still losing the Hispanic vote plus with amnesty youll be adding to the amount of votes the Dems are getting, so no amnesty even if you can get 30 to 40 percent of the Hispanic vote.
