Much like Ron Paul, I’m sure Walter Jones talks about fiscal issues also. But the only thing the MSM is going to cover with any vigor is a foreign policy stance that, sadly, is completely at odds with most of the GOP…

You're likely right, so you'd think he'd have talked about the budget at the conference, not a war that officially ended almost two years ago. Since he's certainly operating as a Republican, you'd think he wouldn't offer so many opportunities for his supposed opponents to cause him to fail in his libertarian efforts.

Now I can understand the libertarians’ position on the subject of foreign policy, but what I can’t understand is their almost totally obsessive-compulsive tendency to AVOID talking about the top problems, like spending, regulation overreach, and growth of government.

Tell that to the folks at Reason. Or Ron Paul for that matter.

That's it? Bush's Iraq war and Obama's drone policy?

Jones was the evening keynote speaker and it was listed as "My Foreign Policy Story".

Now I can understand the libertarians' position on the subject of foreign policy, but what I can't understand is their almost totally obsessive-compulsive tendency to AVOID talking about the top problems, like spending, regulation overreach, and growth of government.

Rand Paul does, but, like the Stossel-Coulter meetup that Erika posted on a couple days ago, they're always talking about other issues, not the ones that are affecting them, and all Americans, every day, 24 hours a day. I mean, I can see their position on Gay marriage and for some it might be their self-interest talking, being gay and all, but am I mistaken and didn't know that all libertarians gay?

Seriously, when are they going to start talking about reining in deficits, reforming entitlements, and cutting back on regulations? When are they going to talk abot supporting the Keystone pipeline, repealing Obamacare or at least the birth control mandate, opposing minimum wage hikes and gun control?

It's like they pick topics just to stand out and be contrarian and really couldn't care less whether anything is ever accomplished, as long as the "Look at me!" works.

Here's the agenda for the NC YAL Conference. Notice anything? The only concrete issue mentioned was Jones' "Foreign Policy" story. Heck, the rest of the agenda could have been copied from an Amway meetup.
