I don’t know. Were there really that many damaging soundbites that Rubio could’ve used to cut into Crist’s lead in the primary(at least early on)? And his record as governor was no good since he was actually fairly popular with Florida voters. That image of him embracing Obama was devastating.

My theory on the 2010 Senate Race is that Jeb Bush was using Rubio as a stalking horse to extract personal revenge against Charlie Crist*. I think that Jeb Bush would have made his support for Rubio public if it was needed to sink the Oompa Loompa. I also think that Crist, even without the hug, was still to the left of where most Republicans were and that people ended up voting for Rubio because they liked Marco Rubio in the end. Let’s remember that Rubio won a three way race with nearly 50% of the vote and actually expanded his lead during the general election period due to the debates.

*As another fun tidbit.. Karma also caught up with Jeb Bush for his personal revenge plot. It is incredibly clear that Rubio is gunning for 2016 and that he could care less about Jeb’s 2016 vanity campaign anymore. (There have been a few stories that suggest the relationship between the two is frosty.)

You’re not. Christie sold us down a river, from his self-serving keynote speech to public fellating of Obama in the Sandy aftermath for a photo op. He’s the toast of the town for libs now, but they would turn on him on a dime if he were ever to clinch the nomination in 16. Thankfully, he won’t since his actions are politically toxic outside of NJ.

Our options in 12 sucked, but they won’t next time. I’m probably going to vote to nominate whichever candidate draws the most fire from the media.
