$9 an hour is not enough
Soon, Rep. George Miller, D-Calif., and I will introduce legislation that would gradually increase the minimum wage to $10.10 per hour, and raise the minimum wage for tipped workers for the first time in more than 20 years. Our proposal, like President Obama’s, would also provide for automatic increases linked to changes in the cost of living.
Raising the minimum wage is one of the simplest and most effective ways to help working families succeed. It also helps our economy by putting additional money in the hands of consumers who will spend it right away in their local communities.
Contrary to publicized myths, research proves that increasing the minimum wage will not cost us jobs; in fact, our proposal would create at least 100,000 jobs through increased consumer spending.

Obama and the Democrats own the misery of poor people.

triple, it is obviously YOU that despises the working class because you are arguing in favor of flawed economic principles which will obviously hurt the working class even more.
Why do you despise the working class?

In my case I went to a payphone and called in. You might not remember payphones though.
To eh and Triple. There is no money. The problem here is “a failure to communicate”. Neither of you understand economics. You may take it as criticism but I think most people here are trying to help you understand what you don’t understand. I suggest you both read what is being said and take it to heart.

That ought to make things interesting.

Btw, you really have to work to remain at minimum wage.

Leftists believe in a “class-locked” society. That is, they don’t understand that people tend to make more money as they get older. “Rich” people also get poorer. People move up and down the wealth scale their entire lives, in both directions.
Leftists don’t understand (or care) how a society actually works. They’re selfish, greedy people that only care about self-congratulation at the expense of our most vulnerable citizens.

this issue has been studied to death since the late 60s, where is your evidence?
triple on February 26, 2013 at 10:37 AM
The Supreme Court held that the federal minimum wage is constitutional and does not exceed the Commerce Clause in U.S. v. Darby Lumber Co., 312 U.S. 100 (1941).[2]

If you’re serious about wanting evidence, check out this book. Just give it a chance:
Race and Economics
Also check out Sowell “Basic Economics,” Friedman “Free to Choose,” etc.

That’s not evidence, it’s opinion. You just linked to a bunch of books written by conservative pundits. That’s the opposite of proof. It’s only proof that conservatives think the minimum wage is a bad idea, which should be obvious to me by now.
But there have been studies done, lots of them, on the effects of employment due to minimum wage increases. Not studies by nancy pelosi. Not a book written by barack obama or michael moore. Non-partisan evidence-based studies to determine what effect an economic policy has had.
Do you have any of those.
triple on February 26, 2013 at 11:50 AM
Just to prove my point, I could just as easily produce a dozen books written that contradict those opinons. I’m not saying their opinions aren’t valid (they aren’t, but that’s not my point) – I’m saying they aren’t proof of anything.
For example, there have been books written saying creationism is real, and there have been books saying evolution is real. Both can’t be right.
But when you ask a creationist to produce evidence, he says, because god said so.
When you ask someone who studies evolution, he produces scientific evidence to show you.
So I guess what I’m asking is, where’s the evidence?

Triple if minimum wage was the answer to prosperity then it coupled with the 16 trillion we’ve spent on LBJ’s war on poverty would have conquered it by now.
It has not, plaintiff’s exhibit one Detroit.
Thanks tip the waitress good night now.

and triple there have been studies done by the federal govt that say cow gas ius the cause of global warming….that has not happened for 15 years champ…
guess we got rid of all the cows.
The issue is the go**amned deficit not the blasted minimum wage.
“duh”
harlekwin15 on February 26, 2013 at 12:08 PM
Evidence & proof does not cease to be evidence & proof because a conservative provided it.
Plenty of good people in these comments have given great explanations as to why mininum wage laws hurt both the poor & the middle class.
If you’re too obtuse to consider them, then there’s no hope for you.

triple makes me think that the left hires the dumbest people they can find to go out in the web and AstroTurf. It is incapable of learning or demonstrating intelligence while declaring that it acts purely out of intelligence and logic.
Stupid dum dum…

Evolutionists have exhibited more fraud and outrageous extrapolation than the Gore-Bull Warmists, you blithering simpleton, and in any case you wouldn’t know real evidence if it kicked you in the Obama with a steel-toed boot.

So your evidence that OWS was a major movement is:
1. An incumbent President won re-election (Because that *never* happens)
2. A Democrat won a Senate seat in Massachusetts (That’s gotta be pretty rare, right?)
Wow, my mistake, you were right: OWS is a ****ing GAME CHANGER.
