“Nobody can bully me out of running for the U.S. Senate, not even Karl Rove”
But when Rep. Tom Price of Georgia, a longtime conservative and possible Senate contender, was quoted in the National Review as saying he didn’t oppose the objectives espoused by Rove’s group, he drew a slap from a rival organization with close tea party ties.
“The Republican establishment is becoming increasingly hostile to the conservative movement, and Congressman Price should openly and aggressively oppose their efforts, not defend them,” blogged Matt Hoskins, head of the Senate Conservatives Fund, an organization founded by former South Carolina Sen. Jim DeMint.
Price’s office declined comment.
Steven Law, head of the Conservative Victory Fund, said it was too early to predict which races it would become involved in. He said the organization hopes to “work with other groups that share that mission to see if we can ensure more rigorous evaluation of candidates, find consensus where possible and perhaps most importantly prevent the Democrats from picking our nominees for us.”

As a life long conservative voter any candidate that the CVF funds and promotes I will be voting against them. sometimes its very nice to know who your enemies are. Until now the GOPe has been able to hide among us. Now with the CVF we can pin point all the establishment goons.

It’s not just Karl Rove he’s up against.
It’s Mitch McConnell and the NRSC. Steven Law is McConnell’s former chief of staff.
CVF is a way for Senate RINOs to get involved in primaries again after they were told to butt out in FL and TX in 2010.
Wethal on February 24, 2013 at 8:34 AM
what’s that saying “those who don’t learn from history are doomed to repeat it”. the Senate rino’s involement in 2010 in FL and tx caused what they hope to avoid. CVF will just cause the RINO’s to lose more elections as conservatives will now know who the enemy is. Just like it enabled us to know crist was a rino in FL and dewhurst was a rino in 2012. It’s kind of the reverse effect of Palin getting invovled ina race. When Palin endorses a caniddate people know they are getting a mostly conservative figure when the CVF endorses a candidate or funds one people will know they are getting a rino/moderate. I think the additional information will have the opposite effect then what Rove thinks it will. time will tell.

when will conservatives learn not to provide pull quotes for the MSM to write boilerplate GOP infighting articles
commodore on February 24, 2013 at 8:56 AM
Unlike a great majority of the candidates backed by the SCF, Price has managed to win election reliably.
So maybe an organization with a win record worse than Karl Rove’s should stop taking potshots at potential allies.

As soon as the establishment either surrenders or is annihilated.
Stoic Patriot on February 24, 2013 at 9:21 AM
You do understand that if the establishment is “annihilated,” they take their voter base with them, right? Voters who are opposed to Obama and Democrat policies but are not gung-ho for small government or may be more socially liberal?
Oh right. I forgot. Zealots like you consider getting 35% in every election from now to eternity to be a smashing victory.
KingGold on February 24, 2013 at 9:26 AM
Nice grenade by Rep. King BUT Rove isn’t bullying you..He just simply is saying he might not back you..
Dire Straits on February 24, 2013 at 9:26 AM
Very good point..Very good point..
Dire Straits on February 24, 2013 at 9:29 AM
Agreed. Price has a better temperament and is less obnoxious than Broun. There is nothing that says that one has to be a RINO, just have discipline and not say stupid things.
Illinidiva on February 24, 2013 at 9:32 AM
Add on: Be able to raise money..Which goes “hand in hand” with not saying “kooky” things..
Dire Straits on February 24, 2013 at 9:47 AM
so the voter base of big government spenders who are socially liberal? You do know you just described the democrat party right? So your argument is that if we don’t support dems calling themselves republician we might lose that voter base?
ROFL…no wonder you moderates lost the 2012 election.voting for a big government socially liberal republican is the same as voting for a big spending socially liberal dem. which part of that do you not understand? oh wait maybe you think because one as an R and one as a D beside their name they aren’t the same….sad really.
unseen on February 24, 2013 at 9:55 AM
Tread careful here, Rove-o-phobes. While I have no love for the man whatsoever, my principles extend beyond “defeat Karl Rove.” I will support and defend candidates who share my principles and beliefs regardless of what Karl Rove thinks of them. Anger and fear have a way of clouding judgment, and that’s just what we don’t need right now as conservatives.
gryphon202 on February 24, 2013 at 10:00 AM
It is good to see conservatives forcing their representatives to actually represent them. That is why they are hired in the first place, not to get reelected. If you can’t do your job, we can find another candidate who can.
Panther on February 24, 2013 at 10:40 AM
What’s wrong with Tom Price of Georgia? Looking at his district it’s where everyone I know it Atlanta lives. Karl Rove should say “We’re supporting YOU, DUDE!” Then unseen would vote for the other one.
Marcus on February 24, 2013 at 10:43 AM
I agree that we should? not be all over the media trashing our party and giving the Dems ammunition, but seriously it isn’t the conservatives who are the biggest offenders. How about Rove who started a PAC or all the idiots STILL BEATING THE AKIN HORSE? I mean if I see one more article about how we have to accept gay marriage and moderate on abortion, I am going to puke especially since Romney didn’t even run on either of those issues..
Yeah I am still looking for this mythological fiscally conservative socially liberal Republican.
melle1228 on February 24, 2013 at 11:07 AM
Good. I hope they leave.
35% of the vote will get you just as much as 47%.
Stoic Patriot on February 24, 2013 at 11:26 AM

I just want to be left alone. That means I support a strong military, strong law enforcement with Constitutional limits and very limited Domestic functions of the Federal Government. I would be ok with abolishing the Dept Education and Social Security. I want just enough regulation to stop outright poison in the environment, Love Canal style, but CO2 is not a pollutant. I don’t want the Federal Government encouraging things like home ownership, less smoking, green energy or Social Justice. I want closed borders and open markets. If you are on public assistance and you have gold jewelry (outside of maybe a wedding ring) and a flat screen tv with satellite, maybe you shouldn’t be on public assistance.
I don’t care if gays get married. I don’t care if adults watch porn. I don’t care if you smoke pot when you’re not driving or working. I don’t care if Janet Jackson’s nipple pops out during the Super Bowl and I don’t think Federal law should be based on the Bible. I don’t care if a high school football team prays or not before a game. I don’t care what color you are, which consenting adults you perform filthy, disgusting, wonderful sex acts with, or what God you do or don’t worship. If I find any of it disagreeable, I’ll stop associating with you. I AM against abortion, but I doubt that by itself makes me a “Social Con”.
trubble on February 24, 2013 at 11:35 AM
would rather be part of the 47% that is trying to build rather than the 35% that is trying to kick folks out..
Dire Straits on February 24, 2013 at 11:47 AM
Fixed..
Dire Straits on February 24, 2013 at 11:55 AM
Too bad that that 47% can’t win a gimme election.
Stoic Patriot on February 24, 2013 at 11:56 AM
For great purity!
thebrokenrattle on February 24, 2013 at 12:03 PM
That is were the “delusion” kicks in..It never was a “gimme” election..
