Juan Williams: Left-wingers are far less tolerant of differing points of view than right-wingers
“I always thought it was the Archie Bunkers of the world, the right wingers of world, who were more resistant and more closed-minded about hearing the other side,” he said. “In fact, what I have learned is, in a very painful way — and I can open this shirt and show you the scars and the knife wounds — is that it is big media institutions who are identifiably more liberal to left-leaning who will shut you down, stab you and kill you, fire you, if they perceive that you are not telling the story in the way that they want it told.”

As evidenced by Juan Williams, who doesn’t even attempt to make a coherent argument any more on FNC, he just gets loud, shrill and filibusters segments to protect his brother Barack.

Yep, he should know…

Seems like that’s everyone on Fox News these days. I do enjoy Herman Cain though.
Wasn’t this same article posted when Juan got fired from NPR?
philoquin on February 24, 2013 at 9:52 PM
Juan could have been fired from NPR for being an incompetent idiot, given the drivel I’ve heard from his mouth in the last 6 months.
He’s decided he’s the “brotha defender” of Obama on FNC and just gets loud and shrill on Hannity and other shows when Jug-Ears incompetence is being discussed.
wildcat72 on February 24, 2013 at 9:55 PM
What first tipped you off, Juan?

Looking in the mirror is tough, huh?

I think this is very consistent with McArdle’s post about our Mandarin class…many of them have never known anything else. Suddenly leftists like Ezra Klein et al. get loud megaphones to broadcast this or that agitprop for the left.
I’m not saying they have any interest in anything outside their bubble, they don’t. But reporters used to be gumshoe kind of people. Professors used to be (a long time ago) retiring, rather poorly paid, thoughtful people…rather than the elite semi-thuggish agitprop people you have now.
I guess it is fine that one out of ten’s of thousands of leftists in high positions see the truth (and are willing to say it on a small online outlet)…but I say one cheer Juan

…and yet he remains a leftist.

Who knows? Maybe he will actually listen and think critically about what he sees and come over to the side with cookies…cookies that we actually bake, not steal.
Instead of the side with the nuts….

Does this count as pulling a Cory Booker? I suspect not.

Liberals want agreement. Conservatives want the truth. What does Juan think he’s doing, wading into the realm of truth? Like a man wandering into the ladies restroom. “OOPS! My bad. Nice mirror!”
Paul-Cincy on February 24, 2013 at 10:20 PM
And I’m sure that no Liberal anywhere in the world will ever, ever criticize Williams for making that statement.

Pass.

To their credit, DU (Democratic Underground) tells you up front that you will be banned (do they still use the cowboy term “tombstoned”?) if you post something they disagree with. And they also instruct their users to not post personal info about folks they disagree with. But they seem to be the exception, not the rule, for the Leftist forums.
Doesn’t matter anyway, as the average DU poster has the IQ of a lawn chair.

From Chapter 1 of Williams’ book “Muzzled”…

Not to defend either Bekel or Williams, but I think both of them are directed by higher-ups at FOX to make the most outrageous, nonsensical arguments possible. It’s to stir up the viewership and keep them coming back for more.
Whatever it was once, FOX truly has become the pro-wrestling of news. It would actually be easier to watch if they’d hired Sergeant Slaughter to replace Bill O’Reilly.

Mr. Williams, Archie Bunker was a stereotype created to smear & mock conservatives in public, to misrepresent our views and create intolerance against conservatives.
My point being that Archie Bunker was an expression of that lefty closed-mindedness which you have just recently discovered.
29Victor on February 25, 2013 at 2:30 AM
Well said, Mr. Williams.

AGAIN: 2 and a half years, three legislative terms. Fcking imbeciles.

Hey Juan, you should be glad you escaped with only a couple of virtual stab wounds. When Kunte Kinte ran away from the plantation, he had to choose between having either his foot or his nuts cut off.
Odysseus on February 25, 2013 at 7:00 AM
Exactly. My mother used to say “Don’t push me into a pile of shit and then tell me I stink.”
Odysseus on February 25, 2013 at 7:01 AM
Juan might as well say “When I think of subservient blacks I think of ‘Step and Fetchit’. In fact, what I’ve learned is blacks in the Democratic Party are the most subservient of all”.
While “Archie Bunker” rolls off his tongue as some kind of representative of conservatives, somehow I think “Step and Fetchit”, equally offensive, would get stuck in Juan’s craw as one of those vicious, hateful, damaging stereotypes that divide people.
Paul-Cincy on February 25, 2013 at 8:29 AM
Prototypical example — Lenin imprisoned and/or murdered those with differing opinions. Some lasted longer than others, if they were deemed useful for awhile. Juan would fit into that category.
