I’m not trying to take your guns away
The most common attack is that the bill is a “gun grab” and will result in confiscations. That is simply false.
First, every single American who legally owns any of the weapons restricted by the bill at the time of enactment keeps their weapons. Period.
Any buy-back program would be completely voluntary and run by local jurisdictions. Furthermore, there is no registration requirement in this bill. The government will not ask you to register your lawfully owned weapons.
Let me be clear: No legally owned weapons will be taken. None.
Additionally, to make absolutely certain no legitimate hunting or sporting weapons are swept into the manufacturing and importation ban, the bill includes more than 2,200 weapons that are specifically excluded – by name – from the bill.

Stop worrying, you guyz. If you like your insurance, you can keep it.

Bullsh#t.
“First of all, if you’ve got health insurance, you like your doctors, you like your plan, you can keep your doctor, you can keep your plan. Nobody is talking about taking that away from you.”
Fool me once, your fault. Fool me twice, my fault.

Why should my neighbor be able to own an AR-15 because he has one, and I can’t own one because I want to buy it after the law is passed?
It’s because you have confiscated my natural right to own one. Simple as that.
con·fis·cate
1. to seize as forfeited to the public domain; appropriate, by way of penalty, for public use.
2. to seize by or as if by authority; appropriate summarily: Diane Feinstein wants to confiscate my 2nd Amendment right.
(Okay I changed the example in the entry, but it fits just as well.)
Dusty on February 24, 2013 at 7:56 PM
Lying sack of dog crap! I’m tired of this garbage, time to call them out. The American Progressives (red team and blue team) in DC want to take your guns in order to control you. Every step along the way is pointed in that singular direction. Every gimmick offered at every legislative level is designed to chip away at the 2nd amendment until it’s gone. Sen. Feinstein is a gun grabber and a hater of liberty and freedom, and there’s no level that she and others like her won’t stoop to take what our fore fathers secured for our freedom.
So what they’ll do is make the legal requirements so taxing and intrusive that it’ll make “legal” gun ownership too expensive and too invasive to endure. Nudge nudge nudge over the cliff we go…

arnold ziffel on February 24, 2013 at 8:01 PM
What gun-buy back? And for right now the buy back would be voluntary, but next year?
JFKY on February 24, 2013 at 8:07 PM
That’s great, Senator. However, hunting and sporting weapons have nothing to do with what the 2nd Amendment strives to protect.
Shump on February 24, 2013 at 8:07 PM
No 1911 style pistols allowed; no AR’s, no “anything that looks scary”. And penalties against gun makers in the form of fees for “safety testing”.

rbj on February 24, 2013 at 8:12 PM
The catch is that no weapons will be legal to own.
Just like NY allows concealed carry except only a very few VIP’s can actually get one.

Yep. Not only liars but shameless liars.

tom daschle concerned on February 24, 2013 at 8:19 PM
But, but, they didn’t lie to you when they said you can keep your plan! They just forgot to tell you that you’ll have to now pay $10K a month! No biggie! If you were a patriotic American you wouldn’t have a problem with that!
NavyMustang on February 24, 2013 at 8:21 PM
I have discovered a wonderful phrase that drives progressives wild: “Gun control is a Democratic party core value.” They can’t confirm it or deny it without offending somebody and it’s too damaging to leave alone, so they get really shirty.
Feel free to casually toss it out when writing comments to your local paper.
PersonFromPorlock on February 24, 2013 at 8:22 PM
That’s the operative phrase here. Can’t invent new guns since they’re not excluded by name. The only way to roll out a new gun is to get congress to amend and add it to the rolls. Just don’t hold your breath waiting for that.
AH_C on February 24, 2013 at 8:31 PM
She’s really not trying to take our guns away. She’s counting on law enforcement, government agencies like Homeland Security and the BATF (and probably the military) to take our guns away.
RoadRunner on February 24, 2013 at 8:45 PM
No, you’re just trying to make life just a little bit more difficult for people who own guns. If some people decide that owning a gun just isn’t worth the bureaucratic hassle anymore, why, that’s not YOUR fault.

Alternate:
Is this in the same way that every American who likes her doctor and current health insurance plan can keep it, period?

Yeahhhhhh…How about no.

Either that or just troll them by giving the new models the same names as the old models.
DangerHighVoltage on February 24, 2013 at 9:08 PM
But we will make the ones you own illegal, and then take them.
The Rogue Tomato on February 24, 2013 at 9:15 PM

Wow,
The lies are strong in this one. Delusion or deception.
Can someone just rid us of this meddlesome woman? HEY CALIFORNIA VOTERS…I’m talking to you! I know…six more years….what a bunch of …. Californians….
ProfShadow on February 24, 2013 at 9:22 PM
Can we get California to secede? They keep sending people who have no respect for our Constitution. Maybe they should just secede and write their own “living document.”
ProfShadow on February 24, 2013 at 9:24 PM
I refuse to accept any politician’s definition of a “legitimate hunting or sporting” firearm. That is subject to political whim. What I do trust is that if we allow them to, they will keep moving the goalposts until nothing but single shot shotguns are “legitimate”.
juliesa on February 24, 2013 at 9:28 PM
+1 to what everybody else here said.
FloatingRock on February 24, 2013 at 9:40 PM
The 2nd Amendment has nothing to do with hunting or sporting.

That comes after she makes them all illegal.

She sounds sincere. I’m sure we can trust her judgement and motives.

Dianne, you pretty little prune, what kind of weapon did you carry in SF and later in DC? A hunting or sporting weapon? Just the use of the term “weapon” shows what a c u r.
