How defense spending will grow under sequester cuts
But even for the Pentagon, the cuts are only to the rate of growth for the defense budget in coming years. They are not actual cuts that make spending decline. In a February publication, “The Budget and Economic Outlook: Fiscal Years 2013 to 2023,” the Congressional Budget Office (summary here, full report here) outlines the increases in defense spending that will happen even with the various spending caps and sequestration cuts that are currently law. Table 1-5 (Outlays) on page 30 outlines projected defense spending in the coming decade. For 2014, the figure is $593 billion. For 2015, it is $597 billion. For 2016, $611 billion. For 2017, $619 billion. For 2018, $628 billion. For 2019, $648 billion. For 2020, $663 billion. For 2021, $679 billion. For 2022, $702 billion. And for 2023, $714 billion.
In other words, defense spending will increase in every year, even with sequestration cuts.

Pres. Obama if he was not a crazied nut job mad dog commie loon would be able to cut spending big time.
He could cut out all the offical goverment spokespersons on staff at the White House, Devense Dept., Ag. Dept, Justice Dept. ,,, ect..
Why,,, you ask.
He has David Gregory and the msm to do the job for free all ready.
He could just set up a twitter account and put in the daily talking points.
Done dirt cheap.
Some may say he gets this now. Ys
But we get the job done with two units doing the lies, when he could just use the free one.
like that, just get that one lie done and over with

Every time the national government, repub or dhim controlled, gets pressured to cut spending anywhere or by any amount, the bureaucracy starts trotting out the meme that they will have to close the national parks, curtail airline traffic, starve babies, lay off the Army and keep ships in port, etc. The answer to this should be that any bureaucratic spokesman that does this should be either immediately fired or forced to take a 50% pay cut. They do it every time!!! Don’t pay any attention to them. Double the sequester – Today!

I spent a long time working with the military contracts – doing work the military/civilians did not have the skills to do. It has been my experience that the waste in the military is not the contractors in particular (except for cronyism) but the government civilians that work about an hour a day then spend the rest of their time minding their outside businesses, playing games, gabbing, or big-dogging it. Contractors have to make a profit and bid against many other contractors for the opportunity. They don’t have the fat to slack off.
In addition, The airlines can maintain aircraft. They will turn around an aircraft in a month or two because they have to make a profit. The mechanics to outstanding work because they know passengers lives depend on them. We have 3-Air Logistics Centers (ALCs) that take up to two years to put an aircraft through maintenance. Although some of the airlines are going bankrupt, the government keeps the ALCs afloat. I bet the same thing happens with ships and trucks.
We could solve many government and private industry money problems by shifting common tasks to those who can do them cheapest and best. By the way – do know that when the Bundeswehr has a truck problem, they just drive or tow it into the nearest Krupp dealer and get it fixed. Since we own GM and Chrysler, why ca’t we do that with their military vehicles? Oh I forgot, the Ordnance colonels (bureaucracy) would be out of a job.
