“I don’t believe President Obama wants an immigration bill to pass”
A recurring fear has colored Republicans’ attitude toward the current immigration reform debate in Congress: President Barack Obama has no actual interest in reaching a deal, and is instead pursuing the issue to exacerbate the GOP’s problems with Hispanic voters. …
Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, who’s established himself as an outspoken conservative after just a couple of months on the job, was only the latest Republican to give voice to that fear.
“I don’t believe President Obama wants an immigration bill to pass, instead I think he wants a political issue,” he said in a speech on Wednesday, according to a report by the Houston Chronicle. ”His objective is to push so much on the table that he forces Republicans walk away from the table because then he wants to use that issue in 2014 and 2016 as a divisive wedge issue.”
It’s a fear that many of Cruz’s fellow elected Republicans appear to share.
“The question that many of us are asking, Republicans and Democrats, is he looking to play politics or does he want to solve the problem?” Wisconsin Rep. Paul Ryan, the former GOP vice presidential nominee, asked during his Jan. 27 appearance on NBC’s “Meet the Press” preceding Obama’s major policy speech on immigration.

Ted Cruz is no fool. But then, I don’t believe either party wants it to pass. Too many of their benefactors are against it.

But regardless of what obama actually wants – whether he just wants to cause trouble for Republicans or simply sit on the sidelines and allow Republican to ram through his ‘amnesty plan’, we can be sure of one thing – Marco Rubio is working directly with him. Rubio has revealed himself to be a double agent – fully under obama’s control.

He’s busy. He’s focused like a laser on the jobs issue.

I just keep wondering why all of a sudden this has to get done right now. It’s not like we don’t have more pressing problems in this country.

I have to assume it’s the 2016 elections, adding more people to an economy that lacks jobs is brilliant.

I’m not buying that, it gets him nothing.

Oh no Obama and the democrats want it this time. They are getting everything they want in return for a promise to secure the border which means nothing. If they didn’t want it this time there would already have been a vote on a cookie cutter bill like the Dream Act in the Senate to put Republicans on record rather than something being written in secret right now. The corporate and racial lobbyists know something is going to pass so they have their greedy fingers in the drafting process.

Is this even a question at this point? Geez people!

The stupidity on this site amazes me sometimes. Rubio is working diligently to stop the Republicans from shooting themselves through the foot, head and arse once again on this issue.

By pushing obama’s amnesty plan? How does helping obama ram through one of his top agenda priorities help Republicans? Rubio is siding with obama, against America.
