Sorry, Dems: Getting Texas to go blue won’t be easy
Now, though, Democrats are hopeful that the immovable object — the overwhelmingly male, conservative Republican power structure — is about to meet the unstoppable force: demography. Texas is home to 9.5 million Hispanics, about 38 percent of the population, just seven points behind the non-Hispanic white population. In 2020, Hispanics will begin to surpass the white population and will outright dwarf it in 2030.
But the Hispanic vote is not monolithically Democratic, nationally or in Texas. In 2004, 40 percent of Texas Hispanics backed George W. Bush for re-election. In 2010, Rick Perry got almost 40 percent of the Hispanic vote statewide, and nearly half in South Texas, the purported base for Democratic growth.
Then there is the problem of Democratic infrastructure: there hasn’t been one for years. In 1995, Ron Kirk forged a coalition of Hispanics and African-Americans to become the first black mayor of Dallas, but he could not do the same statewide; he lost a Senate race to John Cornyn in 2002.

As Californians move to Texas to escape that failing shiithole they will bring their leftist crap with them, never realizing what killed the state they left behind.

They realize it. The ones that will continue to vote for socialists want it that way.

Well, white Californians are moving to texas. Mexicans are moving to California for reasons why. Blue Texas with current trends could not happen until a decade or two from now. And who knows how Republicans court hispanics from now one.

For a peek into the future, take a look at my home state of VA. The same DC/MD residents that vote for the likes of Marion Barry, Barbara Mikulski and Emperor Hussein are happy to settle here for the low taxes and business friendly climate. The cognitive dissonance is stupefying.

No, Texas would turn blue a lot faster then you think. There will be a lot more illegals then anyone realized, they will not vote the same way as the legal spanish people, plus the influx of californians will not help.
Look how fast California turned from deep red to deep blue. The Dems have a lot of experience at this.

If they flip Texas, the nation is over.
nobar on February 21, 2013 at 9:59 PM
Well, they own Austin.
If they flip the rest of the state, I may have to leave here for someplace less left-wing, like France, for instance.

Tell yourself whatever you want, but its going to happen if we don’t stop the bleeding, or if we open up another wound.

They also own San Antonio. Look at who the keynote speaker was at the DNC: San Antonio Mayor Julian Castro

They can all go to hell too. They ain’t the boss of me!

Well latest I’ve heard, Eva Longoria wants to run for something or other in Texas.
Personally I like the idea of these vapid celebrities running in deep conservative states. It’s good for everybody involved that ego-driven tarts like these get a solid smackdown.
And on the off chance any are actually elected in an R+97 state, we can no for certain that this country is gone and flee to somewhere with a more fair electoral process, like Russia or North Korea.

Just because our mayor is a Commie doesn’t mean the rest of us are.
Yeah, I went there.
SagebrushPuppet on February 21, 2013 at 10:42 PM
The large cities in Texas are all liberal cesspools. Houston, Dallas, San Antonio, and Austin all have communist cores. The suburbs keep them somewhat in check but it’s difficult.

I have a number of mexicans working for me in both white collar and blue collar jobs and I can tell you most of them are conservative and are smart enough to see through the democrat ruse. There are liberal areas in Texas, such as Austin, but it is the minority. Even in heavy hispanic areas around San Antonio most are conservative because they see firsthand how democrat policies hurt them in the pocketbook. This is just another example of the left’s racism that assumes they will always have the hispanic vote because they are stupid. My employees all are making careers for themselves and care more about opportunities than handouts.

CA was not deep red.

If it wasn’t for ‘Tech, TTU, and SPC, Lubbock would be well on its way to become the ‘Dearbornistan’ of the Southwest.
