Cruz deserves cheers, not jeers
Cruz has become a lightning rod, and all because he’s daring to do what he promised during his campaign for the Senate. That simple act of integrity has set him apart from the pack. Most politicians know what to say to get elected but then arrive in Washington with no real spine — or in many cases, no intention of ever doing what they promised.
Not Cruz. He’s proved himself an effective advocate for the founding principles that made our nation great: personal freedom and responsibility, local control and adherence to the law as it is written, not the way some politicians wish it was written. …
If Cruz has ruffled feathers in Congress, that means he’s doing his job. Voters want Washington to be shaken out of its complacency. The last thing we need is another status quo senator or a congressman who goes along to get along. That’s how we got into the mess we’re in in the first place. Cruz’s honest and common-sense leadership should be commended, not criticized.

I think it is important to see who is jeering.
People like Cruz tend to smoke out the useless, weak Republicans.

No mention of how he is yet another TEA Party candidate that won while ZERO of Roves did? HNMMM!!!
Moderates suck. Such is the message from the 2012 election cycle.

Everyone deserves jeers for the bad things they do.
When he used race as a reason to try to grant immunity from attack onto his similarly raced Rubio he deserves jeers. We are not a nation of special privilege for some because of their skin color, or at least we should not be, and if we are, it is damaging to our prosperity and unity.

That is a massive distortion of Cruz’s words.
Cruz merely pointed out that the attacks on Rubio have taken on a greater intensity because of his ethnicity. The Left fears prominent black/Hispanic/women/Jewish/gay/etc. Republicans and will do anything to take them down, lest their existence open the door for others to follow in their footsteps.

Ted Cruz is a breath of fresh air in a den of depravity.

So, race is a reason he should be immune to to attack… no distortion. If it is not right for one person to have immunity due to his race (OBAMA), it is not right to give that immunity to another (RUBIO) and by extension of being Hispanic himself, CRUZ. It is the EXACT SAME ARGUMENT THE LEFT USES TO SHIELD OBAMA.

We Texans are quite proud of our new senator.

This is going to be funny.
Wait until the Rubio Birthers to start pointing fingers at Ted Cruz as a usurper because of his Canadian roots.

No one said he should be immune to attack. No one.
Saying someone is being attacked more than usual because they’re Hispanic is not the same as saying they should be immune from attack.
The former is merely an observation, while the latter is a prescription.
steebo77 on February 21, 2013 at 12:27 PM
The Left says that Obama gets attacked because he’s black, because Republicans are racists.
Cruz was saying that Rubio gets attacked more than other Republicans because of his ethnicity, because the Left needs to destroy him so that they can continue to paint Republicans as racists.
It is not the same at all. The former is false. The latter is true.
steebo77 on February 21, 2013 at 12:31 PM
Um, yes it is. When you argue someone is being attacked just because of their race, and that is exactly what is being said, then what you are trying to do is shut down debate by calling the other side racists. Doing things based on race is racist.
Same goes for the easily manipulated morons who envisioned that Rubio was going to be some God sent panacea because wait for it… HIS RACE!
Remember, all our attacks on Obama are based on our hatred of his race. Also, all our praise for Condi was based on our desire to use her race. Remember when so many Republican were proud of all the race based appointments (colon powell) Bush made?
We never win when we are focused on race.
astonerii on February 21, 2013 at 12:32 PM
Yes, yes it is.
Obama is being attacked more because he is black.
Rubio is being attacked more because he is hispanic.
Same argument, same desired result. Sympathy from allies and shame for enemies.

And well you should be. Congratulations.
