Rand Paul to Obama: Knock off the histrionics over the sequester

“I think the sequester happens and it will be in some ways a yawn because the histrionics that are coming from the president saying, ‘Oh, we’re going to shut down and get rid of meat inspectors’ — I mean, is anybody not going to stand up and call his bluff on that ridiculousness?” Paul said on CNN on Tuesday night…

“I mean, for goodness sakes, it was his proposal. He proposed the sequester, it was his idea. He signed it into law, now he’s going to tell us that, ‘Oh, it’s all our fault?’” Paul said. “I voted against the sequester because I didn’t think it was enough.”

He added: “It’s a pittance. I mean, it’s a slowdown in the rate of growth. There are no real cuts happening over 10 years.”

And that’s the dirty little secret. There are NEVER absolute cuts.

If I budgeted to increase spending by 20% and then revised the budget downward by 10%, I am still spending more.

Why can’t people grasp that concept?

McCain’s not senile. In fact, he’s far from it. He plays Arizona like a fiddle. 1 year out of 6 he’s a conservative. That year just happens to coincide with election years for him.

Obama’s behavior with regard to the sequester which he proposed and signed into law confirms that he consideres the legislation he enacts to be nothing more than part of his PR machine and as such can be embraced, disavowed, rejected or ignored on a day to day basis all depending on how the political winds are blowing at any given time. This is the attitude of a despot.
