New Jersey poll: Christie’s job approval hits 74%, including 56% of Democrats
It’s good to be New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie. A new Quinnipiac University poll released on Wednesday shows the Republican with a sky-high approval rating of 74 percent — the highest a Garden State governor has ever recorded in the 17-year history of the Quinnipiac poll — and he leads his likely Democratic opponent, state Sen. Barbara Buono, by 37 percentage points.
The new survey is just the latest indication that the bounce Christie received following Hurricane Sandy has yet to recede. In mid-October, his approval rating stood at a solid 56 percent, but that pales in comparison to his current poll numbers.
“Most governors would kill for a 56 percent job approval rating,” said Mickey Carroll, director of the Quinnipiac University Polling Institute. “Christie gets that from Democrats!”
Christie leads Buono in this November’s general election, 62 percent to 25 percent, the poll shows.

I don’t care if his approval hits 100% in New Jersey, I would never, ever, ever vote for him. Ever.

Yet more evidence that the only way for a Republican to get positive coverage is to join the media in fellating King Putt.
Go ahead and nominate him GOP I am already pondering sitting on my wallet for 14 and 16, nominate Ogabe’s fat chick and watch me vote for the donk for the first time in my life.
harlekwin15 on February 20, 2013 at 11:01 AM
Then he should stay in NJ if it is so good for him. NJ has a long history of electing losers.
Blake on February 20, 2013 at 11:02 AM
Can’t stand that Obama-supporting, arrogant, traitorous pig. He can go straight to hell.
bluegill on February 20, 2013 at 11:10 AM
Excellent job, Governor. You’re good, for New Jersey. Now stay there.
tommy71 on February 20, 2013 at 11:10 AM
Gotta give the man credit, he’s not only surviving but thriving in a blue state. He can’t successfully take his brand of Republicanism national, but he’s laying out a handy blueprint for centrist Republicans to follow as a counterbalance to the far left influence of New England liberalism.
LukeinNE on February 20, 2013 at 11:21 AM
so which 2% of team Jacka**’s “policy” are the magic 2% that meed stopped then??
harlekwin15 on February 20, 2013 at 11:25 AM
Same here, except I’m more likely to vote Libertarian.
It’s more accurate to say I wouldn’t give a damn if the Donk won. Six of one, half dozen of the other.
DRayRaven on February 20, 2013 at 11:26 AM
74%? That’s almost as high an approval rating as the Governor of Alaska had back in 2007.
Stu Gotts on February 20, 2013 at 11:29 AM
Yet another politician who puts keeping his job before representing the people who elected him.
How many of those Dems do you think voted for him?

Let me add one other thing: if Christie somehow wins the nomination by splitting conservatives as Romney did, I seriously believe the GOP will fracture as a national party and will go the way of the Whigs in short order.
After two Bushes, a Dole, a McCain, and a Romney, Christie would be the straw (or the two-ton hippo) that breaks the camel’s back. The GOP coalition would be finished once and for all.
DRayRaven on February 20, 2013 at 11:31 AM
DRay: I would argue that the fundamental ‘final straw’ for conservatives was that the Tea Party Wave of 2010 corrected precisely zero problems in the federal government.
Romney was a compromise candidate, yes, but I don’t think you would have seen as many ABR people sit out of the election if 2010 hadn’t been an object lesson that the GOP won’t fix the problem.
Scott H on February 20, 2013 at 11:35 AM
What is Cuomo’s approval rating among Democrats? Shouldn’t Christie’s be 98% of that?
besser tot als rot on February 20, 2013 at 11:38 AM
A compromise between the statist center and the statist left, maybe.
besser tot als rot on February 20, 2013 at 11:39 AM
besser: I completely agree with you, and I myself was in the ABR camp (as can be seen historically) for quite a while. I ended up voting for Romney as an ABO protest, and that is the last such vote I will ever give.
Scott H on February 20, 2013 at 11:43 AM
Congratulations to him I guess
Flapjackmaka on February 20, 2013 at 11:43 AM
Flapjack: If you say so.
I can tell you that I currently live in NJ, and will be moving shortly to IL due to work, and I was very pleasantly surprised to find that the tax climate in IL is actually better than NJ.
That tells you about all you need to know about what Christie finds important.
Scott H on February 20, 2013 at 11:45 AM
That’s impressive. Hope selling his soul was worth it.
changer1701 on February 20, 2013 at 11:46 AM
He’s doing a good job – relax everyone – no need to vote for or against him yet.
Just absorb information for now – I suggest.
jake-the-goose on February 20, 2013 at 11:46 AM
By what measure? The state is still one of the worst for business. His high approval isn’t based on anything but his embrace of Obama and the resulting love from the media.
changer1701 on February 20, 2013 at 11:52 AM
Christie’s approval rating is unsurprisingly buoyant.
steebo77 on February 20, 2013 at 11:53 AM
Or even worse: he can go straight to Wasilla!
Amiright?
steebo77 on February 20, 2013 at 11:55 AM
I don’t support everything that the man has done, but I do have a question for you:
48-32
24-16
Those are the number of Democrats and Republicans, respectively, in the New Jersey General Assembly and Senate, respectively. What do you propose he do? It’s the equivalent of 261-174 Democrat edge in the House and a 60-40 Democrat edge in the Senate. What would you expect of a Republican President with that situation in Congress?
LukeinNE on February 20, 2013 at 12:00 PM
Because SCOREBOARD!!!!!
See New England having Rs drive the car over the cliff means we’re WINNING!
harlekwin15 on February 20, 2013 at 12:02 PM
My comment was pretty tongue in cheek
Flapjackmaka on February 20, 2013 at 12:04 PM
steebo77 on February 20, 2013 at 12:06 PM
74%? Pretty soon it should reach the 98% he agrees with Cuomo on. For the record, there is no way in heck I will ever vote for a North Eastern Republican for anything higher than state office. The Republican party in the North East, and I mean virtually 100% of the people who represent the GOP and have control within the party, are flat out liberals. It’s simply a matter of who gets to carve up the pie to their friends.
I would no more get off my sofa to vote for Christie as President than I would have for Mike Castle for senator in Maryland. What would be the point?
Rocks on February 20, 2013 at 12:15 PM
Don’t need to read any more of the thread. I’ll just say ditto and get back to work.
gophergirl on February 20, 2013 at 12:16 PM
LOL at the comments here. Can’t have a Republican that is actually popular, now, can we?
BTW, the only thing that has happended since his last rating of 56% was that he went on David Letterman’s show, something else that conservatives are of course never supposed to do, and survived a brief assault by the MSM over his weight.
rockmom on February 20, 2013 at 1:02 PM
Why doesn’t Ann Coulter post here?…oh yeah:)
Clink on February 20, 2013 at 1:04 PM
Ask a resident of New Jersey about Property – Auto – and Income Taxes – all down under Chris Christie.
Just that simple
jake-the-goose on February 20, 2013 at 1:40 PM
Absolutely true. But I wouldn’t vote for him for President.
