When I purchased a handgun that my daughter could use (she did very well with a .22 – it was time to go “bigger”) we looked at a number of potential candidates. She preferred the XD9 for a number of reasons – two in particular: it has a loaded chamber indicator, and it has a cocked striker indicator. She said that she’d feel more comfortable knowing the gun’s status via visual and tactile feedback. Pretty smart for a 15 year-old. Yes, she knows how to perform a press check – and she’s a damn good shot. I’m one lucky daddy!

If tobacco is so horrible, why doesn’t the federal government simply ban it? They won’t because they make a pile on taxing it.

When did Americans ever have a favorable view of drunk driving??

I don’t get people like Frum. The man’s career is now built on a never ending series of columns that go, “as a conservative Republican, I agree with the Democrats on _______.” And yeah the Democrats have a few of those as well: Walter Russell Mead, Pat Caddell, etc.

I just think paid turncoat is an odd career choice.

Back during the SH debates I said this was going to happen. All they need is to have the surgeon general backed by bogus studies declare that just wanting a gun is a mental health issue and thus you can not have one. They will take our guns away within the next few years and nothing can stop them because the conservatives don’t vote and the repubs are nothing but democrats plying the bad cop to the dems good cop.

Why is either a platform given or credence given to a pundit whose origins are not our own country’s? (Frum is Canadian, I believe.) There is a reason that the Second Amendment and its provisions against infringement of the right to bear arms were included in the American Constitution.
