So if the president really wants immigration reform to pass, one of the most helpful things he could do is put out his own plan as a decoy, to draw Republican fire, while the Senate works toward bipartisan consensus. Which looks suspiciously like what just happened.

Has our nation become so screwed up that everything is covert operation?
Obama works with Republicans to deceive Republicans?
News Flash: Most Republicans would be OK with secured borders THEN working on the problem of what to do about 11 million people. They would be especially happy with politicians working in the light of day to address problems and make our country a better place to live instead of jockeying in smoke filled back rooms to keep their jobs.

The GOP is still playing catch up. Everything has to been seen through the prism of Obama’s goal of retaking the House for the Dems. His plan gives Dems a reason to oppose any Senate bipartisan effort, which can then be demagogued at the inevitable immigration rallies where hundreds of thousands will march in the streets denouncing the nativist GOP. A race riot here or there wouldn’t hurt the cause, either. This all starts this summer.

I figured this was DailyKos or Salon because of the writing style, but it’s the Washington Post. No wonder they are laying off people. Despite the childish tone the writer is correct about Obama’s plan being a decoy.

It’s very disturbing Republicans are going to fall for more promises of border security. Even if they have a rock solid agreement on border security before legal status it still wouldn’t be enough because laws aren’t being enforced on the interior.

Once amnesty goes through it will be ground hog day. There will be more illegal aliens streaming in and deportations won’t take place unless you have a long rap sheet with multiple criminal convictions. We will scream about all the problems and we will be called racist. 20 years from now we will be looking at another round of amnesty.
