I agree with Christie on more things than perhaps my Hot Air friends, but this remark reveals him as someone who’s hit his ceiling in his political career.
And the bipartisan love affair continues. How romantic! To answer your quest gg, yes. I strongly suspect the Cuomo will end up as the next dem nominee.
Meanwhile back in “conservative” village … Marco Rubio agrees with 98% of obama’s amnesty plan, but, we are told to ignore this pesky little fact – because Rubio is the GOP’s chosen savior and stuff.

I totally agree with you. Up until Sandy, I gave Christie a lot of slack, but now he is trying to run being a certified Morning Joe Republican TM.
If that’s what he wants to be fine, but please don’t think about trying to run on the national Republican ticket as a Democratic-lite type of person, because at the end of the day R’s will stay home and D’s will vote D.

Looks like the establishment will gear up again in 2016 to run the SAME campaign they did in 2012 and 2008 … heh … maybe in a thousand years that might produce a favorable result.
Maybe it’s just that Cuomo is actually pretty moderate/conservative for a Democrat?
vegconservative on February 19, 2013 at 11:12 AM
I hope that was sarcasm. The union confrontations were a ruse(much like with Chris CRISTie). So far this year, he’s been about as radical left as it gets with regard to guns and abortion. Personally, I hope he does run for President in 2016 if Hillary takes a pass. Even a lousy Republican candidate would wipe the floor with him.
I think these sorts of things confirm that Christie has no presidential ambitions. He’s angling for the sort of “independent Republican” cred that’s required to survive long term in a state like NJ.
And really, that’s ok. If we insist that every New England Republican act like a dyed in the wool conservative, we’re going to wind up with a big shortage of New England Republicans. I don’t care what anyone says, a moderate Republican *anywhere* in government is far better than a Democrat. We just can’t nominate them to be our standard bearer.

Yeah. The gun and abortion are incredibly hard left positions. Cuomo’s confiscation comments will be played on a loop in all the swing states throughout October.
If there were a political version of the Darwin Awards, this would be a finalist. Right up there with “the rent is to damn high,” and the Dean Scream.
LincolntheHun on February 19, 2013 at 11:40 AM
Wanna bet that this shows up in South Carolina and Iowa?
IMO he is being honest and hopefully this will stifle all the posters that tried to sell Christie as the next great Conservative.
A person more cynical than I might wonder if Christie has decided that the TP and conservative energy in the GOP has diminished so he’s free to won up to his actual inclinations.

If so, then he’s the worst politician ever, which I think is pretty clearly not true. Politicians play to the people they need. Christie is clearly playing to the New Jersey electorate, not the national GOP electorate.
I’ll take “Quotes that will cost Christie the Republican nomination” for 1000 Alex.
Zaggs on February 19, 2013 at 11:20 AM
You mean the party that nominated Maverick and then Romney? And before that a couple of Bushes? Newt Gingrich of all people was the supposed “conservative choice” a few short months ago.

Now he is.. I agree with you. But Christie is still delusional enough to think that he can get away with it and still play in 2016.
I guess now we should question if he is even a RINO anymore. To be a RINO you have to at least try to fake being a Republican. Christie does not even do that anymore.
I see Christie running for President, but he will either be independent or a democrat by 2016.

I’d bet on that. I can see him in the Dem primary and then as the Dem VP candidate(If he loses 100pds). He’d “ballance” the ticket (no fat joke here). Of course he will say “I didn’t leave the party. The party left me.” And the LIV will see that even a “conservative” hero could not hang with the wing nuts…
Christie has done ,and will do , more damage to the repubs then 10 spectors and christs. He already helped to torpedo Romney’s campaign. By the end of this the R party in NJ will be 6 people meeting every other thursday at a starbucks.
Blowback
