Where have all the good men gone? Ask women, too
If you believe, as I do, that people respond to models, incentives, and the marketplace, this is not very surprising. The dark side of feminism was creating a relationship environment that put relatively little if any qualifications on any man before you take him to bed, and even less after. If young men are ever going to stop treating women like objects and instead like creatures of value, then women have to stop behaving like objects and stop confusing a wicked strut with life-affirming power. That ship has long since sailed.
Lena Dunham’s genius is in recognizing this truth, though she’s hardly the first. I think of Dunham as her generation’s Rachel Wetzsteon, a tragic figure and a brilliant poet, who anticipated much about the movement of the sexes toward this modern collapse.

Lena Dunham’s the single most overestimated entertainment talent of my lifetime.

Maybe they just don’t think women are worth the effort of a serious relationship anymore?

I don’t want to sound like an old fart even though I’m getting close. Just watch “House Hunters” or pretty much any show anymore and see all of these self absorbed “princesses” acting like the world revolves around them. “Oh, I don’t like those counter tops, they are so 2007.”

*Good*…many just think they’re god.

Okay. Don’t know what the heck happened there. Let’s try that again.
Three words that don’t belong in the same sentence.

A big part of the problem is that when feminists cried double standard they chose to act like the worst of men. They thought that acting like animals in regards to sex would make things better but instead many are finding empty lives while scrambling to have kids at age 43.
Far too many women chose to lower standards rather than raising them. When they whined that women were looked down on for sleeping around while men were not they should have said to men you’re not getting any unless you’re honest and loyal….but that would have been too hard and no fun. Where’d that get ya?

I’ll tell you what happened. Allahpundit has a special algorithm that switches the button functions every so often. Then they get switched back so the IT guy can’t find anything wrong, if someone complains.
It’s a passive aggressive thing. Kittehs are involved somehow, I think.

My wife’s sister says she would move from her home in Seattle to here in Dallas if she could find a man like me. I was flattered until I realized this is what she was talking about; men are being conditioned to believe that the traditional “husband” values are just wasted effort.
When the Liberals succeed in destroying all traditional societal values their reward is societal collapse.

That’s easy. They are already taken or are holding out for someone who is worthy.

I’m having trouble relating to this complaint. I’ve got a son who fits the bill well and is attached to a very nice woman and six nephews who fit the bill, four of which found good women to fit that bill. I have three nieces who do also one who found a good man already.
My neighbor has a daughter who does and is married to a husband who does. They have a son in a similar match up.
There are two guys who live across the street that are eminently qualified, one attached. I don’t know much about her.
There’s a few more but lets add up what I’ve mentioned so far — 12 good men, 9 good women, 7 marriages, two good significant others.
I suppose the problem exists but I certainly don’t see it. Maybe these people complaining are frequenting the wrong fishing holes or using the wrong bait.

Stopped reading at those three words that should never be together.
As for where have the good guys gone. Some have gone to rural areas, churches, or even other countries to seek out women who aren’t Flukes and feminists. Others just look at the entire landscape and see no hope in the direction of romance; they’ve gone to hobby shops, Skyrim, and Youtube.

Re: the woman who cursed him for opening a door:
I know this problem exists, but I’m lucky I don’t see it much. The men here (except for the street-scum louts) are chivalrous, and the women like it that way. As the only middle aged lady wandering the ammo aisles at Academy on a Friday, I feel like Queen Elizabeth–men jumping out of my way and saying “‘scuse me, ma’am” at every turn I take. Of course those are the hunter/country boy types in the gun aisles. They tend to have more formal manners. Or maybe it’s that an armed society makes for a polite society.

Personally I am waiting until after the ruling class’ ponzy scheme collapses to start a family. If I survive the collapse and if the forces of liberty can prevent the forces of tyranny from taking advantage of the terrible consequences of their own folly and corruption, then I would desperately like to start a family on the other side of the crash when there there is a resurgence of liberty and reason to hope. I’m 42 and want to start a family, what I lack is hope for the future. My greatest fear is that the ruling class will be able to continue their ponzy scheme via generational theft (a crime against my progeny) and money printing, turning a necessary short crash to shake out the bad guys at the top, followed by a new spring of freedom, into a long, slow descent into tyranny with the same bad guys at the top all the while. As long as tyranny appears to be winning I will not be starting a family I don’t imagine, and I’m not getting any younger. I don’t want my progeny to be enslaved to a technologically enforced global tyranny that I fear may never be undone.
FloatingRock on February 17, 2013 at 11:00 PM
In order to empower and enrich themselves, our corrupt ruling class of generational thieves are mortgaging the futures of the children I would like to someday have, turning them into serfs if not slaves. Knowing this, I will not condemn my children to a life of servitude to the ruling class, they will have to find their slaves somewhere else.
FloatingRock on February 17, 2013 at 11:32 PM
If we can somehow topple the generational thieves at the top so I had reason to hope for the future again I would very much like to start a family.

Too many men have seen their own or some other guy’s house get stolen by some activist Kaganesque freak of a judge fronting a gold digger where the name of said circus is called “Family Law.”

There are plenty of good men left in the 18-24 range. Myself and several very close friends are decent young men.
It seems to me a vast majority of socially outgoing females in my age group are either entitled little princesses, or extremely insecure about themselves. Or both.
That either think they deserve the perfect male specimen (without being anywhere near perfection themselves). Or they go for the jerks who play on their insecurities, undermining them to make them think that they don’t deserve better. The sad thing is, when they get a guy that treats them well, they will leave him so fast it will make your head spin. It has nothing to do with confidence. Girls nowadays WANT to be treated like crap. So much for that feminism huh?

I’m suddenly having a lot of Internet problems, which although probably unrelated, I’d like to point out that the word “topple”, according to my Websters dictionary, does not imply the use of force. Voting them all out within the parameters of the Constitution is topple.

a) I’m 60 and I love Star Wars — well, the original one. Was it made for someone half my age? If you think so, you are not the woman for me.
b) PlayStation with his bandmates — well, I don’t like video games, but if I did, I might choose a woman who respects my hobbies, even if she chooses not to participate in them herself. In an earlier era, that would have been the huge train layout in the garage, and nowadays — it’s a game console.
c) Trip to Vegas. I hate Vegas. My wife loves it. I go with her. She understands. So do I. It’s called respect and love.

Then don’t. Problem solved, because it takes two to have casual sex with no commitments. If you want a commitment, then just don’t.

Actually, I’m wrong. You can do it with one, but that’s gross too.

My sentiments exactly. I’ll be 42 in June and find myself in the same position. I want a wife and family, but I will not condemn my future children to a life of slavery under the financial tyranny of the ruling elite.
