Legal Insurrection
How we’re losing the Internet to lowest of low-information young liberals
The social media has helped propel the video to over 600,000 views as of this writing It’s on target to exceed Warren’s Factory Owner rant.
There is nothing like Upworthy or BuzzFeed on the right. The closest we have come is Twitchy, Michelle Malkin’s brilliant website.
Are you surprised that Obama won the youth vote even though his policies are a complete disaster for the young?
We are losing the fight to the lowest of low information voters, who are pushed toward a liberal agenda by very smart and talented people who understand the power of social media in a way we don’t.

Romney won the White youth vote (18-29 years old) by 51% to Obama 44%…

He got three non white youth votes from my house.

The electronic mob won’t be reasoned with. It has no interest in dialogue or rationality, just entertainment. If you dance and tell jokes then they will laugh along with you. If not, then don’t bother.
That is what our culture is becoming.
sharrukin on February 17, 2013 at 3:16 PM
If a Warren presidency follows two terms of Obama in the White House, that will be irrefutable proof that America is over.

Well when you have the likes of google and facebook in the pocket of bho no wonder? And could it be that taxpayers money is funding these sites? soros has billions he spends on getting ‘low information young liberals’ to keep their brain dead no information on everything? It seems we are sol having bhopress and now the internet giving false information to people who think that boo boo kid is someone that needs to be seen daily?
And when else fails bho will just do an eo and say the internet needs fed control if too much negative stuff is against bho?

The FACT still REMAINS that it was the corrupt changing of rules AFTER THE FACT coupled with Romney’s liberal backround that cost the GOP the elections.
Chalk this up as another cover-up of the facts, which will do nothing to win elections in 2014.
TEAnami 2014. Be involved or remain irrelevant.

I think the jury’s still out on whether or not this electronic mob consists of anyone beyond the typical mindless, reflexively hard-left, Democratic drone youth voters that have existed in one form or another since the sixties. Hopefully, the phenomenon Prof. Jacobson describes is nothing but a giant, online echo chamber (although, I have my suspicions it is not).
steebo77 on February 17, 2013 at 3:21 PM
It can’t.
It’s based on logic and rationality and that is never going to be more exciting than the irrational.

I hope you are right, but what worries me is the possibility that the poorly educated non-voter will get roped into politics which could only be a negative development. Those who have never put much thought into politics or history are likely to trend left.

Facebook can’t really turn a profit on its own and has yet to identify any sustainable revenue streams. Yet it qualifies for a nearly half-billion-dollar tax refund from the Federal government. While the IPO gave Facebook a lot of cash to work with, if the model going forward is government subsidies, I think its fair to say that taxpayers are footing the bill for liberal indoctrination.

don’t let the title throw you off. its nothing personal:)

Not to mention public primary and secondary education, state colleges and universities, and taxpayer-subsidized grants and loans.
steebo77 on February 17, 2013 at 3:28 PM
Simply go to ANY website (political or not) that allows comments and you can see the proof regarding the lowest of low information voters. Actual, I can’t say for certain they are voters, but “dumbed-down” is on full display.
behiker on February 17, 2013 at 3:29 PM
I have seen numerous ‘on the street’ interviews with people asking various political questions. People don’t know who the vp is, how many branches of government we have, etc etc. For crying out loud you wannna vote and you just see a d and go for it? They probably get money/phone/wally world card for voting d I should add?

Indeed it is. Learn how to dance, or die.
petefrt on February 17, 2013 at 3:39 PM
Sigh… people do not understand that conservative values do not translate to pithy one-liners. Conservative values are not knee-jerk emotional reactions.
What makes something “viral” is 99% of the time something that provokes an emotional response from the viewer.
Everyone knows liberals and Democrats rule from the emotional side. Common sense and rationale have nothing to do with their power.
ButterflyDragon on February 17, 2013 at 3:40 PM
That is never going to be more exciting than the irrational. And that’s why, if we want to defeat them, we need to learn how to dance too. Regrettably, logic and reason is not enough.
petefrt on February 17, 2013 at 3:42 PM
This is how the foot soldiers get recruited and motivated, probably not so much how the voters decide directly. You need to find an analogous recruitment/motivation tool, not an exact mirror image.
Count to 10 on February 17, 2013 at 3:50 PM
Hollywood, artists, and that type of creative individual are almost always leftists. Conservatives tend not to be that exciting, just productive.
Don’t you want to save puppies is an emotional question, and there isn’t any way to answer it that is going to entertain and provide the emotional gratification they want.
sharrukin on February 17, 2013 at 3:51 PM
These are the same jackasses that watch World Star Hip Hop and get motivated by watching fistfights. The same morons who click to YouTube to watch guys smack themselves in the babymaker for some reason. The idiots that will giggle their ass off watching a solid hour of stupid people jumping off buildings, setting themselves on fire, etc.
Sorry, but conservatism doesn’t lend itself to those type of antics. Personal responsibility is just the OPPOSITE of what these people get off on.
ButterflyDragon on February 17, 2013 at 3:53 PM
Exactly — which is why you need to come up with something with similar results (in terms of recruitment and motivation), but it won’t be with the same mechanism.
Count to 10 on February 17, 2013 at 3:59 PM
Or the same people.

I don’t buy the low information voter issue. Its free stuff from government. As always follow the money.

EXCELLENT article. you all need to pay attention. and don’t assume that these young liberals are unreachable because they are too stupid and don’t follow logic, so you might as well not even try to reach out to them. THAT IS WHY WE KEEP LOSING. because some of you don’t try hard enough.
it actually is possible to turn conservative values into catchy and funny phrases and memes. twitchy is a good example. the facebook page “foramerica” is another one. conservative tumblr blogs.
like mine, just click my namei’m 21 and spend lots of time on the internet with young people and many of them are liberal. i know how they think. a lot of conservatives don’t really know how those young liberals think. (and young centrists, who have no opinions but slowly get drawn over to the liberal side) and they just assume they should not get out and try to reach them.
i could write a much longer post about this actually. i could go on and on. this is something i feel strongly about and know a lot about. but i’ll just say one last thing:
this is true and it’s very sad. conservatives need to be more creative, more artistic, and more entertaining. (like me… i’m a very artsy type of person) a lot of conservatives don’t even try to be these things and that’s pathetic. what is even more pathetic is conservatives who look down on artists and bash artists as if we are not productive members of society. (and you wonder why young people are heading to the liberal side!)
Sachiko on February 17, 2013 at 5:29 PM
It’s both, I think. Free stuff and low info, the killer cocktail.
petefrt on February 17, 2013 at 6:29 PM
It’s the libertarian/conservative philosophy and principles we want more voters to embrace. One way to get there, as you know, is through logic and reason. Another way, as you say, is through emotional appeals to conservative values.
We’re not only not good at conveying conservative messages via emotional appeals, but some seem snobbishly resistant to allowing it to happen. “Stay on the high road” blah blah blah.
We depend on artists like you to lead the way.
Stay strong, Sachiko !
