I don’t know who you mean, but if it had to do with someone in Massachusetts, or Boston, specifically, Dolan doesn’t have jurisdiction.

I may be wrong about Dolan having the authority to excommunicate Cuomo, for that matter. I don’t know canon law that well. He’s archbishop of NY and NY is the metropolitan archdiocese which includes all the dioceses in NY, but he doesn’t have authority in those other dioceses to take actions there. The individual bishops of those diocesesdo.

I suppose he could if Cuomo is a member of a parish in the Archdiocese on NY, but if he was a member of one in Albany, then that Bishop would probably need to do it.

Still what Cuomo is doing will affect Dolan’s diocese so he has the responsibility to condemn his acts.

If I were a canon advisor, I’d recommend the bishops skip looking in their parishioner registries to find out whose job it is and just declare him a fugitive member and let all the bishops excommunicate him. Cuomo deserves to excommunicated like 6 times, anyway.

I walked away from the Church because I couldn’t follow all its tenets in good conscience.

“Catholics” like Cuomo, Pelosi, and Sebelius make me sick to my stomach. One cannot support this legalized murder and claim to be Catholic.

I don’t know that Dolan would want to let it be said that Child Butcher of Albany was a Catholic while on his watch, but it will be said unless he takes swift action to excommunicate Cuomo before the law is passed.
