“It will be the No. 1 race in the country without question if she runs”
“I say we place in peril our control of the State Legislature,” said Dale Emmons, a strategist who advised the last unsuccessful Democratic challenger to Mr. McConnell, in 2008.
He added, “Her Siamese twin will immediately be Barack Obama,” who lost Kentucky by 23 percentage points in November.
Another Kentucky-based consultant, James Cauley, said he began hearing fears from Kentucky officials last month when Ms. Judd attended the Bluegrass Ball in Washington during the inauguration, where she confirmed she was “taking a close look” at a run.
“People started saying, ‘Oh my God, she is serious,’ ” said Mr. Cauley, who managed Mr. Obama’s 2004 Senate campaign in Illinois. “One state legislator asked me to go to the White House and talk to Barack.”

oh brother. I did some reading since yesterday. She’ll get her clock cleaned by Mitch of all people
Flapjackmaka on February 16, 2013 at 1:29 PM
I hope she runs. It’ll help nationally.
forest on February 16, 2013 at 1:31 PM
So it doesn’t bother anyone that she lives in Tennessee?
Cindy Munford on February 16, 2013 at 1:33 PM
I am having a difficult time figuring out how it would be the No. 1 race. No. 1 race for illustrating what a pathetic joke politics has become in this country? Maybe.
besser tot als rot on February 16, 2013 at 1:34 PM
That’s exactly it and the fact that McConnell is the minority leader.
Cindy Munford on February 16, 2013 at 1:37 PM
That is another thing that boggles me. By 20 points at least
Flapjackmaka on February 16, 2013 at 1:41 PM
I don’t care. Judd might be more conservative than Mitch. couldn’t be much worse.
unseen on February 16, 2013 at 1:41 PM
I can’t stand McConnell and wish him primaried and defeated.
However, the leftards must have a death wish.
She won’t take the pay cut.
Schadenfreude on February 16, 2013 at 1:42 PM
I hope she runs, and I hope the leftist media gives her nation wide coverage. She’s a raging lunatic. In other words … your typical liberal.
People need to hear her speak. They need to hear her proclaim her love of all things abortion and the need to save Gaia by getting rid of as many people as possible.

Daschle in reverse or suicide pact
Schadenfreude on February 16, 2013 at 1:43 PM
didn’t bother many people that Clinton lived in ark when she ran in NY or Dole lived in Kan where she ran for NC senate seat. Personaly I think its terrible but the majority of people don’t seem to care.
unseen on February 16, 2013 at 1:44 PM
That’s the dumbest thing you wrote since…yesterday.
When you ranted about the government/media conspiracy and we were about to get wiped out by the asteroid.
cozmo on February 16, 2013 at 1:46 PM
She’s a kook! She was hospitalized for a number of disorders not that many years ago.
Blake on February 16, 2013 at 1:47 PM
Somehow I am having a hard time thinking the C/W bunch would vote for this twinkie? Wonder how she is on the 2nd?
I agree she is nuts!

McConnell may be every bit as unpopular in Kentucky in 2013 as Harry Reid was in Nevada in 2009. Whereas Reid had the unions to bail him out (with a major assist from the media and Mrs. Angle), the insanity of McConnell’s opponent alone will guarantee his survival.
steebo77 on February 16, 2013 at 1:55 PM
Mitch has given Obama everything he has wanted. how can Judd be any worse?
unseen on February 16, 2013 at 1:57 PM
He may me a bad leader but to be fair, he really cant do shit.
Flapjackmaka on February 16, 2013 at 2:03 PM
He is an old style republican that should have been put out to pasture long ago. But never let facts get in the way of a good rant.
And what do you have over the powers that be so they let you get away with such bad language?
cozmo on February 16, 2013 at 2:11 PM
I always see cursing in the comments. Didnt know it was not allowed. I should stop then.
Flapjackmaka on February 16, 2013 at 2:18 PM
Oh, just wait to see what he’d want with a Senator Judd.
And Karl Rove is the nut.

The Fat Ugly Girl party. Maybe Lena Dunham can be her campaign manager?
Punchenko on February 16, 2013 at 2:34 PM
No, it won’t. It will be a blow out for McConnell (unless there are lib-backed 3rd party shenanigans).
Top pickup opportunities for the GOP are SD and WV. Most competitive Senate race in the country will be Iowa. Also, I’m hoping 2014 is the year the GOP gets its act together and takes down Landrieu.
Robert_Paulson on February 16, 2013 at 2:39 PM
Ried was able to do a lot against bush as minority leader infact he did so much he became Majority leader. It has never been a question of not having the power to do anything. It’s been a question of having the will to do it.

Joy Behar.

I see simple logic fails you. If Mitch already gives Obama everything he wants what more can Judd give him. everything divided by everything carry the everything = everything. Tell you what when Mitch grows a pair and fights Obama and his failed polices to better this country and return us to prosperity maybe I will give a crap who sits in the KY senate seat. Without Mitch in the Seante who is to say a more conservative GOP figure would not get the leadership chair.
Let’s see support a RINO like Mitch who we know will cave on everything or hope for his defeat and a possible new minority leader who may actually have a pair of balls…. oh tough one….
Mitch is afailed minority leader. Simple fact. We can and should do better.

Oh pleasssssse run Ashley. You know, I used to really like her husband Dario Franchitti…now his judgement of humanity is in question in my eyes seeing as he`s still married to her, birds of a feather I suppose.
NY Conservative on February 16, 2013 at 2:50 PM
best outcome is primary Mitch and let a real conservative run against Judd. Judd vs Mitch will be a close call.
unseen on February 16, 2013 at 2:52 PM
You’re comic relief.
Now do Texas and Senator Cornyn. Here’s the plot: Sheila Jackson-Lee says she’s running……and there’s no difference between those two……ooooooh, it WILL be a close call!
Marcus on February 16, 2013 at 3:16 PM

Lets hear it for Dario !

“It will be the number 1 race in the country until April or June when we see the poll numbers that break the camel’s back. Then we’ll never speak of Ashley Judd again until Chris Matthews tells us what a tough campaign she ran at 8:01 on election night.”
HitNRun on February 16, 2013 at 3:42 PM
I wonder if she will consent to a drug test while running?
trs on February 16, 2013 at 3:44 PM
I’m excited for 2014 but we have to start the ground game for 2016
Flapjackmaka on February 16, 2013 at 3:49 PM
Good for you let’s do that in about Nov 2014, why don’t we?
And Unseen you’re a Nut, a NUT (to quote Barney Fife).
JFKY on February 16, 2013 at 4:00 PM
I laughed when Al Franken ran too…then he won.
Mycroft on February 16, 2013 at 4:01 PM
And Al Franken ran in Minn-soDA, too…Obama received 40%< of the popular vote in Ky. So whilst Unseen wishes Mitch to lose, and Mitch COULD blow it…I'm thinking the Vegas Money would be on Mitch.
JFKY on February 16, 2013 at 4:05 PM
bishop brought Franken over the finish line single handedly.

He is pretty proud of it.
