Iceland working on banning online porn
Iceland is working on banning Internet pornography, calling explicit online images a threat to children.
‘”There is a strong consensus building in Iceland,” Halla Gunnarsdottir, an adviser to the nation’s Interior Minister, told England’s Daily Mail. “We have so many experts, from educationalists to the police and those who work with children behind this, that this has become much broader than party politics.
“At the moment, we are looking at the best technical ways to achieve this. But surely if we can send a man to the moon, we must be able to tackle porn on the Internet.”

Putting a man on the moon is hard sciences.
Stopping the internet is more like psychology… a squishy moving target science with no hard facts.

Busybodies …
Uhm … good luck with that. Online porn is pretty much banned in all of the middle east but everytime we find a terrorist cache, no matter how deep in the desert it is … it’s full of PORN …
Downloaded from ONLINE.
So there you go.
And – define porn? Hell in Bahrain the Victoria Secrets website is PORN.

Well, that should earn Iceland the undying enmity of left-wing internet trolls.

Maybe it’s me but I get a distinct feeling that the nations of the world are involved in a competitive game of … “Who can pass the absolute most batsh*t goofy laws?”
HondaV65 on February 16, 2013 at 6:07 PM
Then they should ban farting and displaying man-boobs in public. That’s a type of fascism I can get behind.

I’ll have to think long and hard about a definition, but I’ll know it when I see it.
(ahem)

It’s left wingers who think up these laws. The left absolutely believes that every woman is wired to every other woman in some kind of huge bizarre “collective” network. They don’t think independently – and when one of ‘em strips naked in front of a camera – they believe that every woman alive is besmirched by it.
So they ban porn.

What else are they going to do for kicks?

Isn’t Iceland a far left country?
Kjeil on February 16, 2013 at 6:12 PM
Agreed. And then they blame the laws on the “Religious Right”.
Which is why they refer to women as “Women”. You can hear the capital letter in their pronunciation if you listen hard enough.

If they succeed, they should see a spike in productivity.

At that latitude there are a lot of long, dark, cold winter nights. What in the heck else are young, single guys going to do there? If this passes and they’re somehow successful in stamping it out there’s going to be a spike in drinking (the other thing young, single men enjoy spending time doing) and a return of the peeping tom. Way to go, Iceland!

Note to self: never visit Iceland.

It would be easier for them to ban lava.

Then only the outlaws will have online porn.
El_Terrible on February 16, 2013 at 6:28 PM
I wish Iceland all the best in their endeavor, and hope that their society will continue to treasure people as people, unlike the putrid mess of debauchery that the U.S. has become.

I bet people there are downloading porn to their hard drives like crazy.

To take my porn, you’ll have to pry – well, something – from my cold dead hands.

Oh to hear American liberals now…

Does this mean they will have to go to Greenland to get their porn?
Mark1971 on February 16, 2013 at 7:05 PM
Just turn off the internet and cut the undersea cable. That is the only technology that will do it and several Islamic countries do that. Does the war porn from Syria count as they have enough internet access if there is will there will be a way.

That’s like Hawaii banning swimming pools.

‘ The original plan, by the then Minister of Social Affairs, Ásta Ragnheiður Jóhannesdóttir, included both prostitution and stripping. [5] Strip shows have been banned since 2010. [6] [7] Johanna Sigurðardottir, Iceland’s prime minister, who is an open lesbian, said: “The Nordic countries are leading the way on women’s equality, recognizing women as equal citizens rather than commodities for sale.” [8] The politician behind the bill, Kolbrún Halldórsdóttir, said: “It is not acceptable that women or people in general are a product to be sold.” ‘

What are they, a bunch of Muzzies? What’s next, banning gun ownership?
