Just remember… the biggest swing from 2008 to 2012 election was by young white voters… IIRC, Obama won them by 14 points in 2008 and lost them by 10 points in 2012.

The whole term “youth vote” is starting to become meaningless and will be completely meaningless by 2030… there will only be an ethnic vote.

It’s a blatant appeal to narcissism. Young people are both idealistic and immature, as well as economically illiterate beause they have notbeen in the functioning economy long enough to understand how it work. Young people want to “save the planet,” while also having meaningful jobs and comfortable lives. They have no idea where money comes from, how long you have to work to afford a car or a house or a college education, because Mom and Dad simply did all these things for them. Now Obama tells them he will provideall these thigs for them and they say, “sounds good,” while Republicans tell them “no, you can’t have all these nice things becase Mom and Dad’s generation spent all the money.”

The problem with that is the assumption that 20-somethings actually want freer markets, increased federalism, increased individual responsibility (aka being a functional adult), school choice, right to work, etc.

I assumed this for a long time: That the problem was conservatives getting their message across. But now, after living with and being surrounded by Lefties my entire life… They just don’t want liberty like we do. They want less freedom. They -want- to have old, white men directing and planning the difficult things in their life for them. In other words, they don’t really want to grow up. This includes my 40-something friends as well.

That’s because we’ve raised generations of me-first, instant gratification seeking, lazy people. It’s only natural that a by-product of that is their expectation for the government to do everything for them(while someone else pays for it). The question is what will all these folks do when(not if) the entire system collapses.

he’s done a masterful job of fluking them, they feel a little fluked, they are disappointed but they still blame republicans…I don’t think anyone in American political history has been able to demonize the opposition like he has…ever…

Of course a 24 hour cheerleading news cycle helps too, and they not only cheerlead for him and his liberal causes, as we saw with Palin, Romney and just recently Rubio, the entire major news “world” is devoted whole heartedly to destroying anyone conservative, period…that ain’t gonna change either..

Seems to me that in an age of 1:1, targeted, and micro-marketing that the conservative message of individualism would be more appealing than smothering, one size fits all, Big government.
