Rubio now selling his own water bottle
“Quench your thirst for conservative leadership?” a note from Rubio’s Twitter account read. “Order a bottle now.”
Rubio’s Reclaim America Leadership PAC asks donors to, “send the liberal detractors a message that not only does Marco Rubio inspire you…he hydrates you too.”

Sweet lovely goodness, shove it right back in the faces of the jerkwad leftists.

I’ll give Rubio credit: he’s playing this incident perfectly.
Stoic Patriot on February 14, 2013 at 5:49 PM
I don’t get the connection between a pro-amnesty “progressive” like Rubio, and “conservative leadership”. It’s unfortunate that Rubio is desperately trying to sell himself as a conservative, when he clearly is not.
GOT INSTANT AMNESTY?

That’s some high-quality H2O lol. This is awesome. Well done Senator Rubio! Stay thirsty my friend.

Isn’t that sort of like Romney handing out Etch-a-Sketches? It just prolongs it.
ddrintn on February 14, 2013 at 5:59 PM
I don’t know why y’all are loving this…seems to me to be a little cheesy. Sure, the best way to nullify the leftist claptrap is to laugh at yourself, but this water bottle thing for PAC donations just seems really silly.
I really hope Rubio doesn’t overplay himself. He’s a smart, talented politician who is in the position to do a lot for conservatives/Republicans and the “brand”.
What he should do, if he still has it, is auction the water bottle he was drinking from, with his signature and a personal message for the highest bidder, with proceeds going to charity.

No, it’s like Palin writing notes on her hand in ink and doing it again and again.
Marcus on February 14, 2013 at 6:21 PM
The etch-a-sketch was a genuinely damaging/stupid thing to say (I know Romney didn’t say it but his campaign did) and so it was best to avoid. This is just typical leftist silliness — “let’s make fun of a bright talented Republican because he sips water during a speech”.
Turning that back on them, raising money off of it and pointing out how silly the libs are for focusing on it is PERFECT imho.
SoRight on February 14, 2013 at 6:22 PM
I’m not seeing the same level of that compared to the Palinistas…yet, anyway. Rubio has already jolted the extreme by his stance on illegals (the correct stance IMO) but for sure, he needs to avoid what was a major stumbling block for Palin.
JetBoy on February 14, 2013 at 6:24 PM
Cheers!
Bmore on February 14, 2013 at 6:27 PM
Oh, of course not. I mean, come on now, anyone that would say that the chillbilly is anything other than an unelectable joke, harharhar…
The Mittbot mania was worse and nastier than anything “Palinbots” have perpetrated. But you were cool with that, weren’t ya? Suuuuuuure you were. And the GOPe “Marcomania” will be no different and just about as effective, in the end.
ddrintn on February 14, 2013 at 6:27 PM
And if she had sold writing-on-hand pens to benefit her PAC you’d be b1tching about what a money hound she is.
ddrintn on February 14, 2013 at 6:29 PM
I’m seeing the same level cult as with Obama. If you listen to Rubio’s recent interviews on his “charm offensive” with Rush, Levin, Ed, etc. There was a lot of fawning and leg tingling going on, and brushing aside any policy questions…just because.
sauldalinsky on February 14, 2013 at 6:35 PM
Mittbots were the worst.
Flapjackmaka on February 14, 2013 at 6:35 PM
LOL, it’s hilarious. Same thing over and over and over again. Every response or non-response from Romney was likewise “perfect”.
ddrintn on February 14, 2013 at 6:35 PM
Rubio drops a pebble, while the media drops a mountain of hurt….

ddrintn on February 14, 2013 at 6:37 PM
Really…this is considered fighting back? The gop and their new “savior” Rubio have shown so little spine that the mere act of selling a water bottle seems bold? Not only will Rubio not openly challenge Obama, he side with him on illegal immigration. Republicans deserve to lose again if they back Rubio.
Panther on February 14, 2013 at 6:37 PM
susana martinez took some obama bucks today. the floodgates have opened.
rubio is the man for these moments. he will give it away with the best of them. unfortunately the democrats give things away a whole lot better.
how is rubio any different than the statists that run the show now?
renalin on February 14, 2013 at 6:41 PM
Yeah. I have no problem with him playing with this. It’s already the most remembered SOTU response ever. Now everyone knows who Rubio is.
Illinidiva on February 14, 2013 at 6:42 PM
There is really nothing to gain over calling Obie out now, the guy is a lame duck and will pass really nothing. The best thing he can do is start his GOTV structure building for 2016. Romney’s was bad
Flapjackmaka on February 14, 2013 at 6:43 PM
How long before some liberal starts drooling about how Rubio is encouraging the use of – gasp! – plastic water bottles?
“Senator, why do you hate sea turtles??”
CurtZHP on February 14, 2013 at 6:45 PM
Not really…
It was the second least watched SOTU ever!
Nice try..:)
idesign on February 14, 2013 at 6:46 PM
I don’t recall ever using the words perfect and Romney in the same sentence, but perhaps you’re speaking generally. I personally don’t understand all the anti-Rubio sentiment around here. He’s a bright, attractive, charismatic, bilingual first generation American who clearly loves America, supports individual rights and freedoms, is skeptical of big government and can put all these things to words in a way that speaks to people.
Tell me again why that’s so bad?
I get that people disagree with him on immigration, fine. But where Romney had proudly and willingly signed the model for Obamacare, where’s Rubio’s tell of soft leftism? Is it really all about immigration?
SoRight on February 14, 2013 at 6:46 PM
Repubs voters suffer from battered wife syndrome, they will make any excuse…find the smallest reason to keep from leaving. Gop voters will stay with a Rubio because some clown on his staff thought it would be cute to sell a water bottle…pathetic and weak.
Panther on February 14, 2013 at 6:52 PM
How do you know Romney’s GOTV structure was bad? I could easily have voted for the lesser of two evils but instead voted for Gary Johnson. Repub voters seem to make up a lot of reasons for why they lost…regardless of the facts.
Panther on February 14, 2013 at 7:04 PM
He only flipped on amnesty a month ago. You can’t say if he’ll flip on anything else yet, he just got into office. The other big thing he’s done in the Senate is to support more involvement in Libya, which is probably a net negative considering Benghazi, etc. I’m usually strong national defense, but considering our deficit right now, I’d argue that Rubio’s Libya position was not conservative…in any case it’s towards the big govt. for sure. When has Rubio been skeptical of big government? Or do you mean only his speeches and not his actions?
sauldalinsky on February 14, 2013 at 7:08 PM
How so? I really didn’t see much of that…the Mittwits were much smaller in number than the ‘nistas.
I just don’t see that. Obama (and Palin) were just short of deified by their core support…I haven’t seen anything close to that with Rubio. But like I said…I don’t see it yet.
JetBoy on February 14, 2013 at 7:30 PM
Love it! I recommended this idea last night.

The Rubes are finding it hard to believe that the newest nondescipt repub is failing so quickly. The art of blatant pandering has lost its allure as some sort of political ninja move. The faster the Rubio/Jeb Bush tribe exits the better for the nation.
