Speaking from experience, I have the following to declare, as I commute into NYC about 10-15 times a month.

Grand Central is now the world’s largest homeless shelter and is a defacto warehouse for the mentally ill.

Almost regularly, people are now pushed off subway platforms and killed by oncoming trains.

The NYPD now issues public safety warnings recommending that you should keep your smart phone/electronic device in your pocket lest you invite theft.

While the murder and violent crime rate is low compared to Chicago, New York still ranks among the top most dangerous cities.

Given my relatively small experience with New York and her problems, I believe that the pressing issues of public welfare are not Styrofoam cups, salt, trans fats and soft drink size.

That is sad. The mentally ill should be institutionalized if they are homeless. I am sure most are not taking their meds and their families aren’t going to step in to do the necessary job.

Last I saw, if I throw a foam cup outside, it doesn’t find it’s way back into the house. Foam cups do not move around my house looking for food and don’t carry diseases, like “dysentery, typhoid and poliomyelitis, as well as gastroenteritis”. I do not require poisons to kill foam cups and if my neighbor upstairs brings a foam cup home, I don’t need to worry about it visiting my apartment.

If I leave a foam cup in my home, it doesn’t become 3000 foam cups after three weeks. I do not need to hide my food from foam cups, and I have no fear of swallowing one while sleeping.
