I endorse Mark Sanford for Congress
Conservatives take the hardest line and exile their own who have failed them to the sidelines.
They should. We have values and when those values are betrayed by those who fight with us, we must often show them tough love and show them the door.
But we do a terrible job with forgiveness and rehabilitation. Mark Sanford walked out of the Governor’s Mansion and out of public life for a while. He comes back as conservatives in Congress are fighting on all fronts, out numbered, depressed, and needing every man capable of manning the ramparts.
Mark Sanford can man the ramparts. Unlike his opponents, he has a stellar and uncompromising record as a limited government, pro-life, fiscal conservative.

Well here’s a fine example of a professional politician who apparently can absolutely do no other line of work. Gee and its the antiRove pushing him.

I didn’t realize Argentina had a Congressional district.
Bitter Clinger on February 14, 2013 at 3:25 PM
I occasionally like Erickson, but this is weapons grade stupid. Glad he didn’t run in GA senate.

Do I have chronic tinnitus or did I just hear a cash register ringing?
KingGold on February 14, 2013 at 3:27 PM
Betrayal is not an incident, it is a philosophy.
BL@KBIRD on February 14, 2013 at 3:27 PM
Looks like Erick the Red now allows dissent on his website, lol. His peeps are taking him to task.
Fallon on February 14, 2013 at 3:30 PM
No, Erick. We don’t like philanderers. Or politicians. But I repeat myself.
Stoic Patriot on February 14, 2013 at 3:32 PM
And this is why I no long read Red State anymore.
BigGator5 on February 14, 2013 at 3:33 PM
I am a South Carolinian and think Mark Sanford should drop out of the race. Sanford needs to get out of the way and let some younger man or woman run for the office. He already has been a congressman and a governor.
SC.Charlie on February 14, 2013 at 3:33 PM
Still waiting for the big Will Folks information you have eErik.
Until then, you are not a real journalist.
portlandon on February 14, 2013 at 3:35 PM
So is he stellar and uncompromising, or is he a weak-willed wuss on social issues?
Stoic Patriot on February 14, 2013 at 3:36 PM
What are the polls like?
Flapjackmaka on February 14, 2013 at 3:37 PM
Overrated political commentators got to stick up for each other…

I endorse hot south american mistresses!
bannor on February 14, 2013 at 3:39 PM
Speak for yourself. I was praying he would run so he would get his 4% of the vote and maybe stop taking himself so seriously when he realized his true level of significance. I gave up on Redstate years ago for a reason.

Does Erik Erik still have a blog?
Mr. Arkadin on February 14, 2013 at 3:41 PM
I really haven’t been following this. Is there really no one else that could run and win, and wants to run? It’s South Carolina. It’s Tim Scott’s old seat. He’s been in public life since 1994 (with a two year hiatus between the Congress and Governor stints.
He’s still got a business. Let him stick with that and let some up and come’r take the seat.
Dusty on February 14, 2013 at 3:42 PM
I trust he is facing a long trail (SWIDT?).
Christien on February 14, 2013 at 3:45 PM
He’s clearly not of the correct moral character.
We expect absolute moral rectitude out of our leaders: Hilldoggie, Holder, Zombie Ted Kennedy, Juan McCain, Admiral John Kary, Billy Jeff (moral errectitude).
No way he can match up to these Gods amongst Men.
CorporatePiggy on February 14, 2013 at 3:52 PM
Sandford’s former wife and our governor Nikki Haley will be sure that Mark Sanford doesn’t have an easy ride to the nomination. They are good friends.
SC.Charlie on February 14, 2013 at 3:59 PM
Once again the purists will punish an ally.
Oh…He is not good enough for the real conseeervatives who are following the McCain Doctrine of losing with dignity.
Stay home once again on election day.
Want do you want from the man?
Does he have to be your spiritual guide post or is it OK if he followed his heart…?
NeoKong on February 14, 2013 at 4:06 PM
I was always under the impression that the heart lie above the waistline.
Stoic Patriot on February 14, 2013 at 4:10 PM
He’s a great American! Sandford simply isn’t in the same league.
CorporatePiggy on February 14, 2013 at 4:11 PM
Did you support Newt or Cain? As far as philanderers go I would take Sanford over Newt any day.
Capitalist Hog on February 14, 2013 at 4:20 PM
I agree with you on this one. MSanford was unhinged.
BoxHead1 on February 14, 2013 at 4:22 PM
Remember when Mark Sanford was going to totally be President and then he wasted that chance on a booty call.
Illinidiva on February 14, 2013 at 4:30 PM
This is just plain dumb.
Rocks on February 14, 2013 at 4:35 PM
That, or they could just stick it.
Thomas More on February 14, 2013 at 4:52 PM
I was a Santorum guy from the start. Still am for 2016, ‘though I’m keeping Jindal as my #2.
Stoic Patriot on February 14, 2013 at 4:53 PM
THREAD WINNER!
ToddPA on February 14, 2013 at 5:08 PM
Is he taking time out from hiking the Appalachian Trail?
jnelchef on February 14, 2013 at 5:15 PM
Ugh.
Othniel on February 14, 2013 at 5:15 PM
But like his opponents, he has no character/moral compass.
Is it too much to ask for both?
kim roy on February 14, 2013 at 5:39 PM
Was Cain’s proven? All I saw were allegations. Could you forward a link of where Cain’s was proven?
Thanks…
