I like this, if the training and background checks are left to states.

As to giving money for someone to go buy a gun…no. Buy it with your own danged money. The government is too big. Shrink it, don’t expand it for your own sacred cow.

Offer basic training to citizens and give them a CCW permit. Heck, even a “gift card” towards their first firearm or ammo…use that “buy back” money. Don’t give them the firearms…they have to purchase it and own it. But yeah, discounts rock…

Explain they aren’t cops, just citizens. And that they don’t have to go through that whole “force continuum” thing….just shoot the bastard if he/she wants to do you harm.

And then, if anyone uses it inappropriately and is convicted of doing so…jail time.

Help people exercise their basic Right, as recognized by the Second Amendment.

Most estimates for current shall issue states is that about 2% to 5% of the population gets one.

That’s all you need 2, 3, 4 people out of 100 trained and armed, and criminal violence (rapes, robberies, assaults) will plummet, and probably mass shootings as well.

No harm in a 10year mandatory sentence for using a gun while committing a felony as well.

That we won’t talk about THAT and what it allows in minority communities makes me sick. Democrats see it that as maintaining an established demographic. I see it as one of the 2 greatest modern moral failings of this nation.

I’ve been to a few places where this is policy. And there is some pretty hefty gun crime there, most of which is unreported or reclassified so that ‘gun’ isn’t involved (shocking I know). What they mostly do is find small lockback knives, a grave danger to society, and fine or imprison their owners.

These are places that have nothing resembling the US constitution I might add.

Like nearly everyone on the statist left, Scarborough’s stated positions are based on mindless platitudes that when put together are completely inconsistent with each other. But, that is okay because (a) nobody in the press will ever call them on it, (b) the stated position is simply used get people used to the idea of supporting the statist, and (c) the stated position is generally used to obfuscate the real position of the statist.

You’re being too hard on yourself – take on the parts specific to Scarborough and the comment fits in perfectly with a discussion of the Statists.

Especially the part:

I’ve been to a lot of training with FBI/police. Been fun. Got to shoot a couple machine guns as well during that training. We got to blow up stuff with IEDs made from household supplies.

And as of yet, I’ve not seen my gun or myself go kill/harm anyone. Just like MILLIONS of my fellow Americans. We’re like that…just plain and good people.

Why can’t people demand Real protection – Government supplied PDW’s and 30 Round Pmags?

She came up with this supposed “Right” to free-rubbers out of thin air, we have the 2nd amendment to back us up.

But as you say, this should be in the form of Gift cards and such FOR ONLY Select-Fire PDW’s from your local gun emporium.

No heading off to use that money to buy useless kit like black powder rifles or wheel guns – only buying the real thing should be allowed.

New York City, like Chicago, has restrictive gun laws. Disproving the Rahm Emanuel theory of the problem, guns purchased elsewhere can enter New York as easily as they do Chicago. Then why is New York’s rate of gun-related assaults and homicides so much lower than Chicago’s?

Why don’t other cities have the same problems as Chicago?

Other cites don’t set up insane “Gun-Free” zones and let people defend themselves, why don’t they have a kinds of “Gun-violence”?
