Cheney backs Obama policy on drone strikes
“I think it’s a good program and I don’t disagree with the basic policy that the Obama administration is pursuing now in those regards,” said Cheney in an interview with CBS News’s Charlie Rose aired on Tuesday.
Cheney offered support for the administration’s killing of Anwar al-Awlaki, an American citizen living in Yemen, in a drone attack.
“He was clearly part of al Qaeda,” said Cheney.

That’s good, so do I. As it is now.

HA! How do you like that Code Pink?

I wonder if Cheney’s endorsement helps or hurts Obama among liberals.
Oh wait, what am I asking? Cheney is only evil when he’s supporting Bush. When he’s endorsing Obama he’s loved by all – even Code Pink.
Hypocrites.

“In a statement released today, former VP Dick Cheney supports Obama’s drone policy”…facts Diane Sawyer will not reveal tonight…

Well, Cheney has never been much on following the Constitution when it comes to “defense” issues either.

Darth Obama.

I’m pleased to see this. Obviously pretty hard lines need to be drawn on certain things (like not vaporizing American citizens on American soil), but Obama’s expansion of Bush’s drone program has clearly been effective, and he should be credited for that.
A (very) few honest folks on the left have protested saying, “if the policy was wrong under Bush, it’s wrong under Obama, too.” I commend them for their intellectual honesty and principled stand. I disagree with them on the policy of drone strikes, of course, but we need to take similar stands: if the policy was right when a Republican was in office, we should offer a Democratic president the same support when he gets it right. And that’s what Cheney has done here.

They’ll use it to “prove” the Republicans are hypocritical for pointing out Obama’s hypocrisy.

Precisely – the NeoCons need to sit down and STFU. They have been discredited with everyone – and they’re only a drag on the party.

Yeah well there were all sorts of people keeping close tabs on things when Dubya was in charge, now that Bark is the man there are no such watchdogs.

James Madison ordered American warships to fire on British ships with shanghai’d American citizens aboard them. George Washington sent troops to suppress the Whiskey rebellion as well.
Nothing in the Constitution bars the government from killing an enemy combatant waging war against the US even if they are American citizens and never has. The only place you will find such a right is next to the ‘good and plenty clause‘.

Have we ever seen Cheney and Obama in the same room at the same time? I’m starting to wonder…

All the leftists I know are going to try to ignore this, but I don’t think I’ll let them.
forest on February 12, 2013 at 10:51 AM
Interesting…
So you feel that Obama unilaterally declaring that someone is a threat to the United States and ordering a drone strike on that person constitutes “due process of law”? I think we have different definitions…

The more the statist tyrants on the far left and far right circle the wagons, now including Cheney + Obama, the more sympathy I have for “anarchists” and others on the left who oppose tyranny.
