The man who killed Osama Bin Laden … is screwed
He looked confused. And way taller than I was expecting. He had a cap on and didn’t appear to be hit. I can’t tell you 100 percent, but he was standing and moving. He was holding her in front of him. Maybe as a shield, I don’t know.
For me, it was a snapshot of a target ID, definitely him. Even in our kill houses where we train, there are targets with his face on them. This was repetition and muscle memory. That’s him, boom, done.
I thought in that first instant how skinny he was, how tall and how short his beard was, all at once. He was wearing one of those white hats, but he had, like, an almost shaved head. Like a crew cut. I remember all that registering. I was amazed how tall he was, taller than all of us, and it didn’t seem like he would be, because all those guys were always smaller than you think.
I’m just looking at him from right here [he moves his hand out from his face about ten inches]. He’s got a gun on a shelf right there, the short AK he’s famous for. And he’s moving forward. I don’t know if she’s got a vest and she’s being pushed to martyr them both. He’s got a gun within reach. He’s a threat. I need to get a head shot so he won’t have a chance to clack himself off [blow himself up].
In that second, I shot him, two times in the forehead. Bap! Bap! The second time as he’s going down. He crumpled onto the floor in front of his bed and I hit him again, Bap! same place. That time I used my EOTech red-dot holo sight. He was dead. Not moving. His tongue was out. I watched him take his last breaths, just a reflex breath.
And I remember as I watched him breathe out the last part of air, I thought: Is this the best thing I’ve ever done, or the worst thing I’ve ever done? This is real and that’s him. Holy shit.

Well, it’s all on Obarky. He said it was him all during the campaign. So this guy bears no responsibility, right?
At this point, I am sick of hearing about this even if it’s from one of the good guys.

This seems a little odd to me.

The answer to that is a no-brainer — best. But I don’t know what else he may have done.
However, there is a dark side. It likely played a large role in getting Comrade O re-elected, seeing as how he practically pulled that trigger himself and all. Or so the propaganda goes.
And if by chance he had been captured watching The Righteous One try to deal with a detained Bin Laden may have had the opposite affect on the election. But probably not. He would have been sequestered away somewhere until after the election.
Just think of it as the sacrifice your family is making for Dear Leader, to keep him and his regime in power.
Either that or demand that those responsible for leaking your SEAL’s name be identified and brought to justice. You might have to wait for a GOP admin, but it would be worth the effort.

To get a military pension & retirement benefits, you must serve for a minimum of 20 years. To get temporary health transition benefits upon leaving the service you have to sign up for reservist duty, which this SEAL did not.
AngusMc on February 11, 2013 at 11:43 AM
Well, if he’s leaving after only 16 years then he’s not eligible for retirement. And if he doesn’t claim disability (despite the wear-and-tear on his body – wear and tear which is common with these physically demanding military jobs) then he will truly get nothing – except maybe GI bill or something.
blink on February 11, 2013 at 11:44 AM
They could create an account for the seal team members and let people contribute to it. I think more than a few conservatives would be glad to.
sharrukin on February 11, 2013 at 11:44 AM
Reservist duty would get him killed unless it was absolutely anonymous.
sharrukin on February 11, 2013 at 11:45 AM
That being said there are plenty of companies that will hire this guy in a hear beat – especially for a role in sales. What potential customer wouldn’t take a meeting with this guy just to be able to brag about meeting the guy that killed OBL?
blink on February 11, 2013 at 11:45 AM
This is actually right. I’m from a military family (child of / wife of). This man did not retire from the miliaty, he separated from the military. You get no retirement benefits unless you stay in a certain amount of time (20 years at minimum). This frustrates me too, but this is how it is for anyone – whether you are a Navy Seal or just drive the trucks.
My husband seperated after 14 years, but stayed in the reserves until he’d earned enough ‘points’ for retirement benefits. But if he had not joined the reserves – we’d have no retirement benefits or accounts from those years.
LilyBart on February 11, 2013 at 11:45 AM
And what’s funny is that the SEALs still like to call themselves Quiet Professionals.
It seems like 90% of them now give self-aggrandizing interviews, do reality TV, and write bad books. What a world…
CorporatePiggy on February 11, 2013 at 11:45 AM
Sounds like left wing “journalist” propaganda and BS to me.
Which means either it isn’t true or there is something important and relevant we are not being told. IOW, standard left wing journalist practice.

The customer would have to know where the meeting was which would expose it to a terror attack wouldn’t it?
sharrukin on February 11, 2013 at 11:49 AM
Is he joking about AQ being decimated or joking about the reason?
If he thinks killing OBL decimated AQ, then he needs new sources for news.
ButterflyDragon on February 11, 2013 at 11:49 AM
Total BS.
Navy Seals can retire after 15 years of service and can receive 50% retirement pay and 100% of their medical benefits. These fine young men go where others don’t dare go, in the light of day and the dark of night. They can be sent anywhere at anytime. IMO 15 years of service as a Seal deserves full retirement and benefits. Still, a 50/100 deal provides them with an opportunity to leave the service earlier and provide for their wives and children.
Hoorah!

EDIT: Seriously HotAir, why link to stuff you can’t even quote without it being blocked? Asinine. If you link to articles with the f-bomb in it, expect it to be used by your audience at times.

This is Obama’s reward to those who killed Bin Laden, Obama, who promised “That if an ill wind should blow against Islam, he would side with Islam” he is rewarding those who were that ill wind but throwing them to the wolves.

How can Dear Leader blame this one on Bush?

In that case, he ought to be free to capitalize, big time, on his deeds and his notoriety.
farsighted on February 11, 2013 at 11:51 AM
Particularly a customer named Mohammed.
This is an instance where I wouldn’t mind breaking the rules, declaring he served 20 years and is eligible for a full pension.
rbj on February 11, 2013 at 11:52 AM
It is true, you don’t get retirement benefits unless you serve for 20 years…my husband served 23, and earned every one of his benefits. I have to say, I am almost sickened that this article has appeared…NOTHING, absolutely NOTHING, is sacred anymore…the shooter should have avoided this, and kept his account to himself. Everything is corrupted today, even the code of the Navy SEALs…sigh.
ellifint on February 11, 2013 at 11:54 AM
But yet you only need to serve 5 years in Congress to get a bit of pension. (Granted, not much, but still, a tiny pension after 5 years?)
ButterflyDragon on February 11, 2013 at 11:55 AM
Hey that’s completely different. They are serving their country in an important government function while swilling down cocktails and making sweetheart deals with special interest groups. Think how rough that must be! /sarc
sharrukin on February 11, 2013 at 11:57 AM
Don’t know if SEALs requirements are a special case, but when I served in the Air Force if you separated at 20 years you got 1/2 pay and if after 30 years you got either 2/3 or 3/4 (I can’t remember). Any separation except disability / medical before 20 and you get nothing. So technically, you could retire at 38 or 48.

I also thought it was Obama to that pull the trigger on Osama? /s

90 percent? Really?
And you know what? If they want to do those things, I support them. Their stories SHOULD be told. Their efforts should be lauded, and since civilian life is very difficult for many of them, I support them making some money in their lives.

On this issue, here seems to be how bho/team feels about our military during the inauguration? Don’t trust them not to do harm to bho?

Just read all of this article..It’s a real shame what this government is doing to our military men and women when they leave the service..they are basically screwed..and this guy will forever have to live under fear of retaliation from jihadists looking for revenge…God bless him and his family and I hope his financial situation gets better… great article btw and pretty revealing

the few SOF guys I know aren’t nearly as accomplished as this hero, and are bringing in mid-six figure paychecks with their expertise
a few are still working in harms’ way, but one off the top of my head is just doing training for foreign security services and making a mint, without any danger to himself
the premise of this article is partially accurate, but also ignorant about the literally hundreds of ex-SOF operators who are extremely successful as businessmen, contractors, personal security, firearm training, hostage rescue consultants, etc etc etc
Granted a lot of the private military contract work is winding down a bit, but there’s still plenty out there
They can literally do anything they want, and few have this hero’s credentials even
Non-JSOC SEAL’s are all doing quite well, and DevGru operators like him can write their own tickets from what I’ve seen
A simple google search with reveal several ex-SOF guys with firearm academies, tactical training schools, etc
