Lady SEALs?
The Navy is moving forward with plans to include Navy women in previously closed billets including the Marine Corps and Special Warfare (Navy SEALS).
Gender-neutral occupational standards will need to be developed and congressional notifications made prior to implementation of any changes.
This does not mean that standards will necessarily be changed; it only means that occupational standards will be developed and/or tested in billets for which the only previous criterion was being male. These standards would be used to assess and assign Sailors to Marine Corps and other ground combat positions. Note that this could potentially eliminate men from assignments as well if they don’t meet the standards.

Don’t like this at all.

THe military will do like they do everything. One scathing Congressional report or one news report and then suddenly standards will be dropped to guarantee that women are pushed through the program. End result– more WOMEN AND MEN will die. It is the ultimate equalizer. I guess in the end the leftist will get what they want. Dead military members, a defunct military and “equality.”

Sure, if they can meet ALL requirements the men do. Which will never happen, so affirmative action ahead.
wildcat72 on February 11, 2013 at 9:53 PM
Will. Never. Happen.
Only 2% of male applicants make it through BUDS training.
Admiral McRaven has watched G.I. Jane one too many times. What the he double hockey sticks is happening to our military? These new commanders live in LaLa Land, guided by President Limpwrist.

When you get that high, you aren’t military anymore– you are a politician. And you usually reflect the administration you are under, and this one is especially parasitic..

Remember Bill Murray in an old SNL skit ……….
Turns out he was prophetic. Humor becomes reality in the time of Obama, TFGPOTUS.

Rangerettes and Pink Berets too!

And the barbarians are charging over the hills of Rome.

*shrug* In theory, as long as they don’t lower the standards, there shouldn’t be any problems. However, due to the incontrovertible laws of human biology (we’re, on average, smaller than men – it’s just the way things are, and as fogw said only 2% of male applicants pass) very, very few if any of the female applicants would pass. In this day and age, that low rate of passage probably means that the PCers will start demanding the standards be made “fair”, and thats where the problems would start.

It’s a little late to be discussing military standards now.
Standards went out the window last year.

And the sad thing is at one time
many, some of these guys were of the “kick ass and take names” persuasion. Now they are too stupid to realize they are Obama’s—or any administration’s coffee boys.arnold ziffel on February 11, 2013 at 10:49 PM
So the men at the tip of the spear, already forced by requirement into missions against steep odds, will now fight with one hand behind their backs in the name of social progress.
Yep.
If the standards remained as they are, there would be no problem – or at least no more of a problem than there is with having women in combat at all, of which there are several. Perhaps one woman in the history of the SEAL corp would have ever passed BUDS, and even that is merely statistical conjecture. I’ve certainly never met her.
But the media will start ginning up hype for the first woman SEAL, and the pressure will come, and they’ll start passing.
And soldiers (well, technically sailors) will die. Because women cannot be as effective fighters as men. I’m sorry, let me say that again: women cannot be as effective as fighters as men. One more time, for the Harvard faculty who are “nauseated” to hear these things: women cannot be as effective as fighters as men. At the level of performance where the best are put in situations where often even the best is not good enough, that’s going to get people killed. And worse, imperil missions.
HitNRun on February 11, 2013 at 10:52 PM
What the heck does this mean?
Why do standards need to be developed or tested just because women are becoming candidates. It should be assumed that the existing standards existed for a reason.
blink on February 11, 2013 at 11:42 PM
No woman alive today can pass Ranger or SEAL training to the same standard as men.
The standard will be lowered, and our people will die.

I don’t know boys. There are over 300,000,000 Americans. Even if there are 100 successful male applicants to every successful female applicant I have to think the sheer numbers will come in to play. Of course I also see lawsuits and degrading standards in the name of Political Correctness on the horizon so….

Why not just get rid of our military all together? I mean our leaders are actively making us weaker with all this crap why beat around the bush and just end the military.
The Notorious G.O.P on February 12, 2013 at 1:25 AM
I’m in the dark. Are you talking about gays in the military stuff or other changes to physical standards?
