Hey, let’s use Bush’s paintings to psychoanalyze him
Wait, never mind, too late for that. The art critics – and the liberals projecting onto Bush the guilt they think he ought to feel — have already pounced.
“A Freudian will have to tell us why the water is running in both pictures. Private baptism; trying to get clean; infantile ecstasies; purification rituals?” writes Jerry Saltz at Vulture.com.
“Even in the quiet inner sanctum of the bathroom, where a man is just a man, George W. Bush cannot escape his past,” Clare Malone writes in The American Prospect.
“Bush, slightly hunched, is standing out of the water, staring off into the corner of the shower, as if contemplating past sins that can never be washed away, no matter how much soap you use and how hard you scrub,” writes Dan Amira at New York Magazine.
“If you ask me there is something of a simple allegory to the moments chosen here: the discredited former leader trying to wash himself clean of the long failure that was his life,” writes Miles Klee at blackbookmag.com.

Morons and stupid ‘psycho-analysts’.
He is only guilty of giving them such puerile fodder.
He’s no more/less nuts than most all other people.

Sometimes a shower is just a shower.

The funny thing is that GWB is way smarter than all of them, like a fox, and way less intro/retrospective.
What a bunch of weasels…and they call themselves “erudite”.

Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar, unless you’re a miserable, bed-wetting lib who has to politicize every single thing in life. There’s a psychological term for that: A$$HOLE

He did not give them anything. Someone hacked his personal e-mail account and these were photos taken of the paintings, shared with family.
The evidence of his strong character is his ability to lead a private life, including painting for a hobby, after being the most powerful man in the world for 8 years. He is not a narcissist running around giving speeches and looking for fame like BJ Clinton.

IIRC, haven’t we seem some of bho’s ‘stick figures’ while he is doodling? What does that say about bho to psychoanalize him? He has the brain of a four year old and acts like one if he doesn’t get his way!

You’re right, and no disagreement, whatsoever.
Schadenfreude on February 9, 2013 at 3:35 PM
T.Torgerson, surely the pics were not to remain ‘family secrets’ forever. Not to worry, we agree.

Most times a painting is just a painting. I can just see him laughing that W laugh shrugging his shoulders at the idiots trying to analyze him. And oh by the way those libtards don’t seem to care that the photos of the paintings were obtained illegally by hacking his sister’s email account. May they all spontaneously combust.

Perhaps its simpler than they imagine. Maybe it is a representation of the only quiet time one in that station is allowed.

Or Obama. What kind of person is Bush? It matters to me that the Dalai Lama, who met Bush and has very different political views from him, really loves Bush the person. He saw compassion in Bush.
Selflessness. Bush never lashed back at his critics, or attacked them personally, like Obama does routinely. W was never about W. He did what he thought was right. After Obama leaves office we’re going to be treated to a neverending parade to his glorification, led by Obama himself. He says he prays for humility? Good luck with that.

He’ll never leave…he’ll be 101 and will still talk about “I’m president”. You don’t have to wait – gold coins with his mug and “I killed Osama” are now being sold, really.
Schadenfreude on February 9, 2013 at 3:42 PM
That’s why he will have my undying respect. The humility.

I know. I love it when you say it and thought this thread needed it.

I still have a pastel drawing I did for a college art class that is a view out a bathroom door and through the rails of a landing to a chandelier hanging over a foyer. There were deep psychological reasons I chose that subject:
1. The light was good.
2. It was a good way to practice depth perception.
3. The bathroom is a nice, quiet place to work while drinking wine and not having to worry about making a mess.

I’m reminded of a former fad for analyzing Hitler’s paintings: it was all about the tiny figures in them showing Hitler’s disengagement with humanity, until it occurred to someone that they were architectural renderings.
PersonFromPorlock on February 9, 2013 at 3:55 PM
They should try that with me. I wonder how you analyze a straight edge.

An artist that claims esoteric crap
is usually a big problem .
