I like Ace’s idea about using a legal process that would declare folks like Awlaki to be outlaws, beyond the protection of American law.

As for Machiavelli, remember how much of getting stuff done on the Left relies on mutual back-scratching. Many elements of the Democrat coalition are ecstatically happy with what 0bama is giving them–enough that dissent can be ruthlessly squashed on the Left. Reminders to actual peaceniks on the Left that the brown stuff on their hands comes from a turd they will have spent eight years polishing can pay off in 2016.
