Scarborough: The GOP needs Colin Powell if they want to win national elections
But if many Republicans are frustrated by Powell’s remarks, MSNBC host Joe Scarborough is not among them. …
“How do you keep this huge tent the Republican party has built?” Matthews asked, noting that the “people on the fringe” who have now taken over the party are costing the GOP its image. …
“2012, Republicans got punished because they were the party of Todd Akin instead of the party of Colin Powell,” Scarborough declared. “They were the party of Richard Mourdock instead of the party of George H. W. Bush.”
“This is a party that Colin Powell wanted nothing to do with, despite the fact that Colin Powell is absolutely necessary if you’re going to have two wings of a Republican Party that can win national elections,” he continued.

Because winning is everything you know.
I mean … who cares that squish Republicans also did their fair share of overspending?
Hey – we want to win! That’s the end in itself … WIN!!
After that – who cares?
LMFAO

Hi Obama voter! Why aren’t you in the Benghazi thread talking about Obama and his administration still covering up and misinforming?
Oh, that’s right! You voted for him!!
Oooopsie. My bad.
kim roy on February 7, 2013 at 1:33 PM
Um…. Powell is basically a Democrat now. So, what Joe is saying is we should all become Democrats? Please. enough of Joe. Let’s ignore him.
djl130 on February 7, 2013 at 1:33 PM
Uh, the GOP and Colin Powell – with the help of Joey “kneepads” Scarborough, just won a national election – for obama.
Pork-Chop on February 7, 2013 at 1:35 PM
There is a place for moderation in the GOP. But here’s the thing:Colin Powell is not a moderate anymore. Quit trolling us, Joe.
thebrokenrattle on February 7, 2013 at 1:35 PM
Fluke Colon Powell – he should join the commies.
Mika and Scarborough will soon perform sex on that table, two better suited morons on TV there never were.

Someone really needs to take a clown hammer to these idiots.
Kensington on February 7, 2013 at 1:38 PM
Man, this clown has become a full fledged stooge for the left. What an idiot.
darwin on February 7, 2013 at 1:39 PM
Whaaaaaaa?
Really….Powell left the conservative side, if he was even near it at any time.
Sorry, Joe…no go.

Random Question:
What is Colin Powell’s stance on all the attempts to nullify the Second Amendment?
ProfShadow on February 7, 2013 at 1:42 PM
If the info is accurate, that should be “Choom” Powell.
Christien on February 7, 2013 at 1:44 PM
Joe just can’t stand the fact that the conservatives who the GOP insiders had pushed out of the “big tent” are no longer content to be out in the rain. If the tent isn’t big enough for all then it is time for the Powells & Scarboroughs to be on the outside looking in.
katiejane on February 7, 2013 at 1:45 PM
I wouldn’t even start from the assumption that Powell can “win.” It’s become pretty clear after 2006, 2008, and 2012 that the leadership has no clue what it is doing (beyond, of course, maintaining their own power).
Doomberg on February 7, 2013 at 1:46 PM
Damn Straight – agree 100% – enough with this idiot already
jake-the-goose on February 7, 2013 at 1:47 PM
When the Bushes were running everything did Scarborough or Powell worry that conservatives were being high-hatted?
Seth Halpern on February 7, 2013 at 1:47 PM
Like I need a third armpit.
CurtZHP on February 7, 2013 at 1:47 PM
The media painted us as Akin while hiding the child raping Democrat Menendez. When most of America don’t hear anything about you except what the democrat media says then how can they vote other than for Obama?!
The media is the root of our problems.
We either do something or we get destroyed.
Sadly I rarely see people here do anything but whine about the unfairness of it all. Is that all we do, whine?
Ghettos organized why can’t we?
Organize and fight.
GardenGnome on February 7, 2013 at 1:48 PM
If we had put Colin Powell up against Obama in 2012, we wouldn’t have seen him on the debate stage at all – because he would have been on his knees giving Obama a hummer beneath the podium.
If the GOP needs Powell, I have no need for the GOP.

Then I don’t want to win.
Dusty on February 7, 2013 at 2:16 PM
I guess what Joe Scab is saying is if we want to get Powell back in our corner, we need to nominate fine, upstanding folks like Bob Menendez and Jesse Jackson Jr.
xblade on February 7, 2013 at 2:20 PM
He seethes jealousy.
Any Republican elected since Schmoe left office, especially younger than him: Schmoe can’t stand them.
Marcus on February 7, 2013 at 2:24 PM
Where does Powell stand on Obama’s nullification of existing immigration law?
What happened to faithful execution of the nation’s laws? And if Obama doesn’t like them, push to get Congress to change them.

Colin Powell isn’t necessary for victory.
People with politics _like_ Colin Powell’s are necessary in a winning coalition.
Big difference.

If you’re going half surrender you might as well go full surrender.

Shorter Scarborough,
“we should be like Britain, you know. Just have 2 leftward parties: fully socialist and socialist light. Then it’s win, win.”
*Poor grammar and syntax are meant to be an intentional representation of Scarborough’s speech.
njrob on February 7, 2013 at 2:35 PM
Remember everyone, Scarborough is a respected GOP TV personality by the TownHall hierarchy.

I’d love to have Gen. Powell. He worked for & loved Reagan. I’m just trying to figure out how:
1. Going from Reagan to McCain is moving to the right.
2. Going from Reagan to Romney is moving to the right.
3. Going from Dubya to McCain is moving to the right.
4. Going from Dubya to Romney is moving to the right.
and finally..
5. How Gen. Powell can explain donating to McCain’s campaign during the primaries, getting his wish since McCain was the nominee, then switching his support when the opposing candidate wasn’t who he & everyone thought it’d be when he donated to McCain (Hillary). I’d like to know how he went from DONATING to McCain to deciding not to even vote for him when the opponent ended up being the
blacknew guy.If he hadn’t given to McCain, it could be explained. I need to know what made him make THAT BIG OF A SWITCH to the
blackguy whose principles & policies are in direct opposition to those Gen. Powell put forth in his autobiography.Cam Winston on February 7, 2013 at 3:00 PM
Great moments in television history:
Jessica Simpson thinks that there are chickens in the ocean.
Joe Scarborough thinks Colin Powell is a Republican.
EastofEden on February 7, 2013 at 3:27 PM
As I like to say;
There are currently two types of Republicans,
1) Those who want to elcect Republicans for the sole purpose of Electing Republicans
2) Those who want to elect Republicans for the purpose of Accomplishing Something.
Electing DIRCs (Democrats in Republican Clothing) will accomplish nothing less than the continued march into leftisim.
jaydee_007 on February 7, 2013 at 3:44 PM
You Leave jessica Simpson alone.
I’ve been in a Supermarket and seen those cans that say “Chicken of the Sea.”

Joe, go stand in the corner and eat horse sh!t until we tell you it is okay to stop. Ooops, come to think of it, that’s what they are paying you to do at MSNBC. Nevermind. No one other than lefties are paying any attention to what you have to say anyway.
