Report: Menendez went to bat for donor friend accused of overbilling Medicare by millions of dollars
Sen. Robert Menendez raised concerns with top federal health-care officials twice in recent years about their finding that a Florida eye doctor — a close friend and major campaign donor — had overbilled the government by $8.9 million for care at his clinic, Menendez aides said Wednesday.
Menendez (D-N.J.) initially contacted federal officials in 2009 about the government’s audit of Salomon Melgen, complaining to the director overseeing Medicare payments that it was unfair to penalize the doctor because the billing rules were ambiguous, the aides said.
Last year, in a meeting with the acting administrator of the agency in charge of Medicare and Medicaid, Menendez again questioned whether federal auditors had been fair in their assessment of Melgen’s billing for eye injections to treat macular degeneration, the senator’s aides said.
The agency had ordered Melgen to repay the $8.9 million, and at the time of both conversations, Melgen was disputing the agency’s conclusion. His appeal continues to this day.

Dems and corruption—what a rare occurrence. They care more for the little guy though.

CongressCritters need to be limited to two terms…one in office and one in prison.
And for people like Menendez and Reid…as long as they’ve been in office they need to serve in prison.

Corruption is a badge of honor in New Jersey. And because Christie would appoint a Republican to replace him (albeit a horribly bad one) Menendez will complete his term from prison if necessary.
Not that he’ll go to prison, mind you, even if he murdered the underage prostitutes after he had sex with them. Holder’s got his back.

Laws are for the “little people”, not the elites in the DC Oligarchy.

Menendez screwed up only in selecting his sugardaddy, after all, a congresscritter has to get rich like his good friends and colleagues from the power vested in them. Maybe Chrissy will appoint Cory to replace the busted senator thus ensuring his own reelection.

WP mentioned the use of the jet toe go to Dominican republic but not a whisper about Menendez having sex with 16yo girls. Which is worse the pedophile or the enabler???

Not one mention of prostitutes in the entire article… WaPo is oh so sophisticated that way…

I love how the only thing making WaPo and NYT report on this is the fact that he’s so boned that there’s no excuse for them NOT to get out front.
They’d be burying this story in the deepest, darkest hole they could find if they thought they could get away with it. That just tells you how much trouble this guy’s in, that even the liberal media is forced to report on it.
