Is Chris Christie too fat to be president?
Is Hillary Clinton too prone to blood clots to be president? No. But the question will be asked and ought to be asked. Health matters. Endurance, as a quality of health, matters more than other qualities, like the propensity for certain types of cancer. Christie has proven by his actions as governor that he can endure a punishing schedule. Being president is tougher than being governor. It is stressful. Being overweight in high-stress jobs is not pleasant, it taxes the body, and it increases the likelihood that he’ll have a heart attack. (He’s not a ticking time bomb; the actual chances of any one person who is fat and in a stressful job having a heart attack are not insignificant but not necessarily in the realm of “likely” either.)

So your waist size can be a determining factor in an employment decision?
BobMbx on February 7, 2013 at 9:22 PM
Well his ego is certainly big enough.

Smoking 3 packs a day though, no problem for hip black dudes.

Schadenfreude on February 7, 2013 at 9:26 PM
His waste is his problem, not his waist.
Schadenfreude on February 7, 2013 at 9:26 PM
No too liberal, but not too fat….
though about 2016 I expect to hear from Ann Coulter that Christie is the ONLY Republican who can win the election and we must support him.
But that is for the future.
JFKY on February 7, 2013 at 9:27 PM
Is Obama too much a communist to be President?
I thought so…
ProfShadow on February 7, 2013 at 9:27 PM
No, but he’s too squishy.
John the Libertarian on February 7, 2013 at 9:27 PM
His avoirdupois is not an issue – the fact that he is a screaming RINO attention ho is.
People always try to make it about physical characteristics.
Barky’s latte colored skin has never been the problem. His aggressive love of socialism and narcissistic personality disorder is.

If Christie can fit through the double doors to the Rose Garden, yeah, he’s fit to serve.
Dusty on February 7, 2013 at 9:28 PM
In a word, Yes!
Take it from a recently fat man (body by Prednisone to save my left femur from being replaced by 11″ of titanium rod) the indifferent and descriminating public perception and treatment of one who is heavy is a fact.
In close elections, we need a proportionate candidate. Tell Chris to bone up on some treadmill work, it is working for me. Besides, he is forever dead in the water after the bromance shots with The One.
Shaughnessy on February 7, 2013 at 9:29 PM
Oh, who cares about Chis Christies weight. Tired of him. HA, please cover the launch of Bill Whittle’s Virtual Presidency!

No chubsters allowed. Unless it’s Hayley Hasselhoff, then oooooohhhhh yeeeeeaaaahhhhh.
Bishop on February 7, 2013 at 9:33 PM
All the more reason to reduce the size of the federal government by 90%. There should only be like three cabinet positions, just enough to play canasta, euchre, bridge or pinochle, suck down beer and eat lots of finger sandwiches in the afternoon. Golf is too stressful, steering the cart and all, while trying to eat and drink.
Dusty on February 7, 2013 at 9:35 PM
well, he screwed romney in the final week of the election. so i kinda think he’s a jackass and i will never support him.
and he’s fat.
darkegop on February 7, 2013 at 9:38 PM
Amazing how far we’ve fallen. Our Founders would be ashamed.
jawkneemusic on February 7, 2013 at 9:41 PM
As long as they can find Taft’s bathtub, he’ll be okay.
Fallon on February 7, 2013 at 9:43 PM
No, he’s too liberal.

He’s too weak-willed to be president.

Too undisciplined. Screw Mr. Hug-a-thug.
Basilsbest on February 7, 2013 at 9:53 PM
Why are the media trying to destory Christie so soon before 2016?
SouthernGent on February 7, 2013 at 9:56 PM
Because, for the moment, they like Rubio, better….but don’t worry they’ll start building Mr. NJ back up again….
JFKY on February 7, 2013 at 9:59 PM
He’s too erratic to be President!
Warner Todd Huston on February 7, 2013 at 10:03 PM
I don’t know about that…he’s some GOP folkz w3t dream…a fiscal (NJ $, not my Federal $) Conservative, who’s a Social Liberal….
Of course the NYT and others will love him and the New Thinking he represents, UNTIL he has the nomination, then he’ll merely be the pawn of Right wing H8ters, who will bring back women and Persons of Colour as Chattel Property….
And as I say, all the while, Ann Coulter, will be telling us that ONLY Cristie can win and we MUST vote for him, starting in Jan. of 2016.
JFKY on February 7, 2013 at 10:11 PM
His waistline is not the problem. Well at least as it pertains to his ability to become President. He is just another liberal R with a perpensity for using tough guy rhetoric. Not being Conservative is it seems to me the biggest mark against him.
Bmore on February 7, 2013 at 10:11 PM
Question: Is Obama too much of a fathead to be president?
Gosh so sorry ….am I being politically incorrect again?
wubu on February 7, 2013 at 10:15 PM
I want a president with a beard.

do chicken have teeth?
renalin on February 7, 2013 at 10:38 PM
Awww… Poor Christie. He thought that he was going to get a pass from the media in 2016, but he is still a Republican so it doesn’t matter how much he sucks up to Obama. Also, Christie is very jealous of Rubio because Rubio is the new shiny thing and his time cover looks better.
Illinidiva on February 7, 2013 at 10:47 PM
Christie will never be president. Not because of what he puts into his mouth, but because of what comes out of his mouth.

No sorried, Legend. You have been saying this on occasion before. I have been thinking/typing it too.
Great minds, both of you.

No sorries

Glad to see Taft already mentioned. Taft may have been portly but he was ethical, intelligent and capable unlike the vain, lean, officious, bureaucracy addict named Wilson who replaced him.
I could care less about Christie’s weight… it’s his opportunistic nature and inability to pass up on any self-promotion venture which relegates him to the dishonorable reject status of Clintoon, Peanut and Ogabe.
