“I don’t want to hear about, ‘well we can’t take it on because it’s too politically dangerous’”
Vice President Joe Biden delivered an impassioned and at times emotional plea to House Democrats to rally around the Obama administration’s gun-control proposals, telling lawmakers they can’t rely on political excuses for inaction.
“I’m not asking you to vote for something you don’t believe, but I don’t want to hear about, ‘well we can’t take it on because it’s too politically dangerous.’ The world has changed,” Biden said in a 25-minute address to Democrats at their annual retreat in Leesburg, Va.
Biden argued that the political and media climate had shifted dramatically from 1994, when many Democrats blamed their support for an assault weapons ban and other gun-control measures on the party’s loss of its congressional majorities.
“There’s an overwhelming consensus about the need to act that didn’t exist in ’94 and a general consensus about the kinds of thing we have to do,” Biden said.

Democrats love to believe such a consensus exists, but I’ve seen no evidence of it. I am glad they’re pushing it though, and I hope they continue to…it’s high time these voters in places like PA and MI and elsewhere who are fooled into believing they don’t want to grab your guns open their eyes.

Also is anyone else starting to get the feeling that these sorts of things look increasingly desperate? I feel like if this was such a slam dunk they would have done it by now…

You mean like the 43% who agree with Obama and 48% with the NRA—that overwhelming consensus?

Gun control, once thought to be a settled issue, is now back on the table. Shocker.
Contrast this with abortion. The Democrats now stand a fair chance of getting one of their prized issues, because they kept fighting on gun control until they got their chance. There was never any “this issue is settled and now it can never be touched” talk on the left.

On the issue of guns/ammo, the dhs is at it again buying more ammo. Is the dhs buying all this ammo to get it out of the hands of citizens who want/need it?

Yeah, work on crap the political class wants but the public doesn’t give a crap about, instead of stuff that the public cares about (spending, the economy, etc) but the political class doesn’t want to touch.
Government FOR the people!

Thank you for posting that letter, Chip. Now I understand why the “natural born” clause failed to register with the Left.
Absolutely amazing!

Outlawing weapons will trigger a “Civil Disturbance” which the Dems cannot understand.
Overheard at a gun show:
“The best part? These idiots think we’re gonna sit in our houses trembling, waiting for them. Or that we are going to line up on the village green for them to kill us all. They have no idea whatsoever that the smart boys and girls know exactly who created these little banana republic militaries in every village, town, and city. It’s going to be epic.”

Read that carefully. He admits there is an overall social problem at the core.
One we can’t discuss because they are almost entirely responsible, btw.

Be sure to tell the red state Democrats that. Be sure to smile and wink at them before they cast their votes, and on their way home after being thrown out of office in favor of a Republican. They’ll appreciate the moral support.

Chip, I have to agree with Proud Democrat.
Barky needs to change the constitution so that people born from C-sects are still eligible to be President.
Please let that letter be inadvertent parody.
CorporatePiggy on February 7, 2013 at 12:01 PM
I think it’s satire. Using caps is a give away. Real liberals seldom if ever use caps. There is no profanity. Not even #$%$^@$# type to make a point. Last but not least:
To equate a c-section with not being a natural born is beyond that capacity of a liberal. They just would not be able to come up with that connection.
Opinions will vary as they should but mine is that it is satire.
Dr. Frank Enstine on February 7, 2013 at 12:05 PM
Sorry, after reading what I wrote it sounds like I’m saying that the c-section thing is valid which was not my intent. I see it as so silly that it has to be satire and that the average liberal could not come up with it as a valid view, hence the satire aspect of the letter. The writer is trying to sound like a stupid liberal but it is too well written to be from a liberal. Good grammar, spelling and structure which is not generally a liberal strong point.
Dr. Frank Enstine on February 7, 2013 at 12:13 PM
My first thought as well. Does anyone know something about the writer or source site?

I got curious about my own question.
From the article:
Check out the comments; there is a great graphic of “The Socialist Brain of a Liberal Democrat.”
They have the deer crossing letter too.
This site is going in my bookmarks!

Damn, and I was so hoping this would be a Republican talking about forcing spending cuts.
In 1993, Dems took the first shot at nationalized health care. In 2009, they got it done. In both cases, they lost big the following year. Care to put two and two together, Democrats?
Please tell me that was satire.
