Harvard study: Just six in 10 millennials have jobs, half are part-time
But over half, or 59 percent of those aged 18-29, have gone to college and The report reveals that time in college is a better sign of social status than income, mostly because jobs aren’t available.
Contrary to common media wisdom, most younger Americans did not vote in the last election. Of the 46 million Millennials, just half voted. “Although turnout was higher than it was in 1996 and 2000, it was right back to where it has been consistently from 1976-1992,” said The report compiled by the National Conference on Citizenship, the Center for Information and Research on Civic Learning and Engagement at Tufts University’s Tisch College of Citizenship and Public Service, Harvard University’s Institute of Politics, and Mobilize.org.

Yeah, no surprise here. I weep for my kids.
Except that two of them live abroad, and they both have great jobs, go figure.

If you have a small business, fire a few of them. They brung/kept you Obama. Teach them a good lesson of life.

You get what you vote for.
Mark1971 on February 7, 2013 at 3:49 PM
So only 30% of my generation (am I a millennial at 32?) have jobs?
Elections matter. My sympathy meter is at zero.
Washington Nearsider on February 7, 2013 at 3:51 PM
Told this to a co-worker this morning. He said, “I am the thirty percent!”
apostic on February 7, 2013 at 3:53 PM
Applies to me. I’m 26. College. Voted for bush, mccain, and romney.
Joey24007 on February 7, 2013 at 3:54 PM
I believe I read somewhere that young white voters(the ones who showed up anyway) went for Romney. So if overall the young’uns didn’t turn out in high numbers, how the hell did Obama get reelected? Was it strictly minorities and single women who put him over the top?

The obvious answer is green cards for everyone.
steebo77 on February 7, 2013 at 3:56 PM
One might think that bhocare has a bit to do with this? A business can not stay in business with bhocare/thousands of regulation and hire people full time?
For those who vote r and wanted to un-do bho, I am so sorry if you have college and can’t find a good job. It is not your fault, it is the voters of ‘santa bho’!

Actually, Wall Street’s America. We’ll all be hourly paid, benefit-less McWorkers yet.

What difference, at this point, does it make?

Pathetic loser.
CorporatePiggy on February 7, 2013 at 4:23 PM
Yeah just because the average family of four needs to pay $20,000 for health insurance due to ObamaCare has NO effect on the economy. It’s all the Capitalists fault!
JFKY on February 7, 2013 at 4:23 PM
And funny you should mention McWorker….remember mcDonald’s offered a healthcare plan to it’s employees. One that obamCare disallowed…but the McWorkers were being screwed by their McEmployer, right?
JFKY on February 7, 2013 at 4:25 PM
Why work when there’s obama-scented FREESHIT?

22 in a purple swing state. Have voted straight ticket Republican since I turned 18. I guess I’m one of the lucky few with a job, even if the job is well below my qualifications.
Entry-level job searching for the past couple of years has been one of the worst setups I have yet seen (I’ve been working since 14).
The vast majority of employers point blank refuse to hire entry level workers who do not have 2-3 years of experience in the field, which pretty much leaves every recent grad in a complete lurch. Thus the double digit millennial unemployment.
ZachV on February 7, 2013 at 4:42 PM
Don’t forget to factor in the kids fresh out of college who don’t want to take a job below their qualifications for the time being. So many of them have been conditioned to think a degree is an automatic pass to a six-figure salary.
CurtZHP on February 7, 2013 at 4:50 PM
As much as I don’t like imposing more laws on employers, this situation is so bad we just about need federal laws striking this requirement, and I am saying it’s this insane as a lifelong conservative. Literally everything that isn’t a “trained monkey” position like McDonalds – and some that ARE – has this or equally stupid requirements.
Someone pointed out that these are sometimes because of businesses trying to weed out idiots, but while I sympathize IMHO that’s a poor solution. And until such moronic requirements are eliminated I do not have much sympathy when people complain “We can’t hire us any yungun’s, dagnabbit!”

I’m certain that you don’t even know what “Wall Street” means.
Go poop on another car or rape some more white women you reprobate Occutard.
tom daschle concerned on February 7, 2013 at 5:26 PM
Yeah, I can believe that. I count myself to be among the fortunate millennials with work now. I’ve been out looking for professional work twice before, and yeah, the job market has sucked for as long as I’ve been out of college.
Stoic Patriot on February 7, 2013 at 5:54 PM
And many are being undercut from the hundreds of thousands of third worlders holding H-1B visas who undercut Americans’ chances of getting a job. Another wonderful benefit of mass LEGAL immigration compliments of the GOP cheap labor lobby.
