Newest Monopoly piece is…
It’s sad news for some, as the sly cat will replace one of the game’s venerable pieces, which has also been chosen by voters. The boot, iron and wheelbarrow were tied for last place until Tuesday night when the wheelbarrow and shoe hung on and the iron got the boot.

Who needs and iron. Isn’t everything permanent press now?
Dusty on February 6, 2013 at 1:08 PM
Glad the MSM is on top of the pressing issues of the day.
God bless them.
Gatsu on February 6, 2013 at 1:12 PM
I liked the iron. And the top hat, too. But most of all I liked the doggy. woof!
Blake on February 6, 2013 at 1:12 PM
Who needs a cat? You can’t hunt deer with a cat.
Ronnie on February 6, 2013 at 1:13 PM
If it was a little semi-auto I might get interested.
aquaviva on February 6, 2013 at 1:14 PM
What if the cat is a lion?
JohnGalt23 on February 6, 2013 at 1:15 PM
Did they ever say why they had to get rid of one and not just add the cat?
Or, silly me, was this entirely to drum up publicity?
kim roy on February 6, 2013 at 1:17 PM
A confederate flag? Oh wait, that’s the astonerii edition.
In all seriousness I would’ve liked to see a Thompson gun. ;-}

Leave the bambis alone.

CyberCipher on February 6, 2013 at 1:17 PM
OK, but you don’t really need one with more than six teeth.
Ronnie on February 6, 2013 at 1:19 PM
Sez who? With a cat like this, who needs a rifle?
antipc on February 6, 2013 at 1:20 PM
So five years from now they can launch a special edition including the iron again and charge $40 for it?
As for publicity, if they really cared for public input they could have allowed voting off of Facebook. Sure kept me away.
Not that it wasn’t a given the cat would win. Cats own the Internets. Better in their paws than the government’s though…
Gingotts on February 6, 2013 at 1:24 PM
It took me a second. But when I finally got it, it was pretty funny…
JohnGalt23 on February 6, 2013 at 1:24 PM
If they get rid of the Iron, which piece will Hillary use when she plays monopoly?
portlandon on February 6, 2013 at 1:25 PM
OK, cats like these.
antipc on February 6, 2013 at 1:25 PM
Apparently you do as you took the time to click, read and comment about it

McDonald’s does more to keep Monopoly semi-relevant in the mass consciousness than this pointless “stunt” will ever do.
Jeddite on February 6, 2013 at 1:26 PM
Winner! I would not take that as a bet.
That’s probably why I had no idea – I don’t have facebook.
Thanks for the info.
kim roy on February 6, 2013 at 1:27 PM
Apparently the new version comes with actual Canadian money…though no one has noticed yet.
Ronnie on February 6, 2013 at 1:28 PM
They are keeping the hat and that’s all that matters. I picked that as my permanent choice of playing piece at the age of 11, to strike fear in my opponents with an look of autocracy and haughtiness, telling them in effect that I will always be rich and they will ever be poor and soon, bankrupt. I lived to crush their spirits.
It didn’t always work.

Iron my shirt!

ExpressoBold on February 6, 2013 at 1:32 PM
Oh they can hunt, but good luck finding anything even suitable for jerky when you’re done.
Ronnie on February 6, 2013 at 1:35 PM
Thank goodness I still have an old Monopoly set somewhere.
ddrintn on February 6, 2013 at 1:39 PM
Why?
Moesart on February 6, 2013 at 1:49 PM
The iron was my favorite.
I didn’t get to vote, not being on Facebook.
I guess my remaining monopoly iron will be worth some money.
Alana on February 6, 2013 at 2:00 PM
Yeah, I don’t think there are more than 5 or 6 million out there.
Ronnie on February 6, 2013 at 2:02 PM
There used to be a horse!

I didn’t realize that, but when I saw this, I remembered that horse. It must have gone without my realizing it (and possibly much lesser fanfare).
Alana on February 6, 2013 at 2:07 PM
There used to be a cannon.
Ronnie on February 6, 2013 at 2:11 PM
Got rid of the iron because it was reminding women what they should be doing with my shirt.

Red Cloud on February 6, 2013 at 2:17 PM
That’s nothing. This is an assault iron. NSFW, BTW.
JohnGalt23 on February 6, 2013 at 2:26 PM
And the various lottery licenses.
GWB on February 6, 2013 at 2:26 PM
What difference, at this point, does it make?
Ronnie on February 6, 2013 at 2:30 PM
That would have been funny 10 years ago, when the Can$ was worth about 65 cents. Today it’s equal with the dollar.
…. on second thought maybe the joke still applies, thanks to Obama, Bernanke, et al.
peski on February 6, 2013 at 2:30 PM
It’s gone? That’s the piece I always choose.
peski on February 6, 2013 at 2:31 PM
It might still be in the deluxe edition that has extra tokens.

Just use a Warhammer40K Space Marine figurine… MONOPOLY 4 THE FUTURE

I prefer to use a rook or a half-filled Trivial Pursuit pie.
