One thing that confuses me is if your friend/ boss tells you he is apathetic to running in 2016 but is playing coy about it because it increases his influence, gets him front page press and primo interviews, and helps with his DC cocktail party invites then why blab about his apathy about the Presidency to Politico.

Paul Ryan is just a young firebrand for the GOP establishment as far as I can tell. His occasional quasi-conservative rhetoric is often belied by his voting record. Outside of GOP establishment circles people seem to be a lot more excited about Rand Paul and Ted Cruz than they are about Paul Ryan.
