Jindal: Anyone running for president in 2016 right now needs their head examined
“Anybody on the Republican side even thinking or talking about running for president in 2016, I’ve said, needs to get their head examined,” Jindal told “Fox and Friends.” “And the reason I say that is, we’ve lost two presidential elections in a row, we need to be winning the debate of ideas, then we’ll win elections.”
Jindal, considered an early front-runner for the Republican nomination, said that the party’s struggles despite polling showing a desire for smaller government was evidence that a reboot was necessary.
“We’re not winning the conversation, we’re not presenting our ideas, we’re not in that debate as well as we should be,” Jindal said…
“The country doesn’t need four years of non-stop presidential — we just inaugurated a new term of this president’s second term,” Jindal said.

There’s a Hillary joke in there, but for Jindal restricting his comment to Repubs.

You don’t have to be crazy to govern here, but it helps.
apostic on February 4, 2013 at 2:53 PM
He’s right, but it’s the media driving the speculation and it was Obama who introduced the perpetual campaign, so it’s no surprise ’16 rumors are flying about.

Your cat scan is ready, Governor Jindal.
portlandon on February 4, 2013 at 2:59 PM
He has a cat running for POTUS in 2016? That’s awesome.
Fluffy 2016!

One of the biggest reasons Romney lost in ’12 was because 0bama has had at least six years to perfect his anti-Romney campaign. The 2016 Democrat does not ned this advantage over the 2016 Republican.

Jindal’s responsible for a power outage? Really?
changer1701 on February 4, 2013 at 3:17 PM
This guy isn’t just running three years too early, he’s already losing three years too early.

Ten bucks and a Slurpee this one goes Crist.
Count on it.
For now, pi$$ off.

Jindal – filling the slot TPaw filled in the 2012 race – a boring also-ran “front runner” who will drop out early.

ABSOLUTELY. My point is I’m pretty damn tired of these
people scolding us about everything….everybody
on the R side wants to lecture the Party about HOW to go
about things. I’m merely pointing out events that occur
that EVERY DEMOCRAT will use against them.
ToddPA on February 4, 2013 at 3:27 PM
That’s funny. It wasn’t so long ago that this guy was humiliating himself in a “response” to Obama’s first SotU address. Gee, I wonder if he was pondering a presidential run in 2012 at that time (2009, for those keeping track)?
Armin Tamzarian on February 4, 2013 at 3:28 PM
Jindal is absolutely right about this.

In other words, “math is hard”…

Jindal is too whiny. I don’t think he has the charisma for a national campaign.
The GOP should run a fresh candidate, not the usual wannabes and losers. There is plenty of time to look for a charismatic conservative leader.

Did he mention this thought to his wife (who has an engineering degree)?

Jindal was basically the 2016 frontrunner and the “hottest” thing in Republican politics in 2008/ 2009. However, he screwed it up with the awful SOTU response and other people (cough.. Ryan..cough) took full advantage of this to raise their own profiles. Not to mention that Marco Rubio came out of nowhere. Alot of his whining about numbers and math lately seems to me to be bitterness that Ryan has taken over the dorky 40-something policy wonk position that Jindal used to hold. I’m actually surprised that there wasn’t a veiled shot in there about Rubio.
