Mayors’ gun-control group to run Super Bowl ad pushing for background checks
The ad, titled “It’s Time” opens with images of children, while “America the Beautiful” plays in the background. “The NRA once supported background checks,” a child’s voice says.
The ad then features footage of National Rifle Association (NRA) Executive Vice President Wayne LaPierre testifying before Congress in 1999.
“We think it’s reasonable to provide mandatory instant criminal background checks for every sale at every gun show, no loopholes anywhere for anyone,” LaPierre says in the excerpted clip.
“America can do this for us, please,” the narrator concludes.

Nobody wants to see this crap on Superbowl Sunday. Sheesh!
Blake on February 3, 2013 at 3:04 PM
The bastards have no shame. They couldn’t care less about children.
They’ll use children to push their gun confiscation while hundreds of thousands of children are slaughtered every month for birth control and convenience.
This ad will backfire spectacularly.

I have been less than enthusiastic about watching the Super Bowl for years now. Who needs this crap? I bet Bloomberg paid for the Newtown kids to be transported there for halftime too. When did football become taken over by effete bedwetters and baby daddy street culture? What a horrible festering mix this is.
juliesa on February 3, 2013 at 3:19 PM
Did CBS give the group a bargain price for the ad? Because that’s a heckuva lot of dough to run an ad otherwise.

They call themselves Mayors Against illegal Guns.
What they don’t tell you is that they want to make all guns illegal.

Using children to symbolize the pile of dead children they’re standing on. Disgusting. And during the Super Bowl no less, as if we needed more non-football bullcrap to ruin the game. Take your compromise and shove it.

Also, the kids from Sandy Hook will be singing the anthem. This is not good. Total politics USING children to deliver a message.

Could they sing “We are the world” as well. One of my all time favorites. “Janie’s got a gun” probably not in their repetory.

Oh OK. Abort them. Don’t shoot them. Got it. Pass the wings.

We should have a contest to see who can change the channel the fastest.
Cindy Munford on February 3, 2013 at 4:18 PM
I think they are singing “America the Beautiful”. And while I don’t have a real problem with it, I do wonder the message being sent. I would love to hear these children say why they were invited. I know that the country wants to support them, but is that what they think is happening?
Cindy Munford on February 3, 2013 at 4:21 PM
Is it safe to assume that no public money went into this ad? Maybe it was all Bloomberg and Soros money?
petefrt on February 3, 2013 at 4:26 PM
I have already told hubby about this ad. I don’t watch football but he does and hopefully he will mute this ad!
Wonder if bho will have his face someplace during the game? bho just can’t keep his nose out of anything it seems.

It’s really sad and pathetic that the anti-gun nuts continue to stand on the graves of the Sandy Hook victims, now they will use the living victims as well. Ghoulish at best. How can the parents of these kids allow them to be exploited this way?
Sickening really. I hate that the NFL is allowing this to happen, and throw in CBS and the anti-gun Governors ad as well.
D-fusit on February 3, 2013 at 4:29 PM
I agree Cindy. This must be very confusing for the kids. All your friends were killed so you get to be famous!

I would have been OK with that ad ending with the punk being zipped into a body bag.
