Video: “Gun nuts have many good points”
While Harris does identify as liberal, he takes a more complicated approach than most to the difficult issue of guns. “Even the most rabid haters of guns, people who would argue for a gun ban, have many good points on their side,” Harris began by saying. “And the gun nuts have many good points on their side.”
He went to say that “our fascination with the Second Amendment just looks like masochistic stupidity.” But at the same time, in our political system, you get the “watered-down version” of gun laws that he believes will not make any big difference in reducing gun violence.
Newark Mayor Cory Booker took some offense to Harris’ outlook, chiming in with “that’s where I just disagree.” He made the point that the “data should drive our decisions” and his data shows that crimes with guns are being committed by people who bought them illegally on the secondary market, without background checks.

I don’t think you really want data-driven decisions. As ernesto reminded us, there is one other very big, very obvious, very uncomfortable bit of data, Mr. Booker.

Did he say the same thing about our fascination with ANOTHER Constitutional Right, say that of Speech or Press?

So he proposes that if they pass a new law these criminals will buy them illegally WITH background checks. Yup. That’ll work.

And no amount of libtard wishcasting is going to get Tyrone and William to stop selling guns on Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. and go get a background check done.

Gun nut? Whats that? If you own a tank, maybe you’ll qualify as one.

In the United States of America there is 1 Murder for every 29,521 Guns.
There are also 2.6 million defensive uses of Guns every year by Law Abiding Citizens.
However there is 1 Murder for every 1 Abortion.
There are no statistics on Lives saved by Abortions.
Which one is Masochistic and stupid?

Or abortion?
Anti-gunners always like to use words like ‘fascination’ or ‘obsession’ when talking about American gun rights. When I hear those words, what they tell me is that they don’t understand gun owners and have no wish to do so, they are too foreign to comprehend their thought processes. Which is funny when you think that liberals believe they have a superior ability to understand other cultures and peoples, yet don’t even want to try to understand their next-door neighbor if his house contains a gun safe. Very tolerant of them.
For those exceptions, it’s about self-defense: Do we have a right to it or not? If not, then our continued existence is left to the mercy of criminals, since the government that disarms us denies that it can be held responsible for failing to protect us. To exercise self-defense we need the tools to effectively do so, just like freedom of speech needs printing presses. The government doesn’t get to decide what kind of printing press you “need” to fulfill your right, and the politicians and pundits debating this or that type of firearm are in no position to determine what kind of gun you “need” to protect yourself. Certainly the debate about whether or not to throw people in jail because their rifle’s grip goes down instead of down-and-back doesn’t inspire us with their superior insight into an individual’s potential risks and responses.
So if you want to say I’m “fascinated” with my continued existence and what I can do to increase the odds of that happening, then I guess my question is: And you’re not?

It’s always funny to watch a bunch of liberals sit around talking about how best to take away our rights.

Next we’ll be treated to a PowerPoint presentation with “bullet points” and how we need to call them something else, because, ya know, “bullets.”
Heaven help any child in school who decides to put together a presentation with a bulleted list…they’ll probably go to jail.
