Poll: 17 percent of Marines would quit if women are moved into combat positions
According to a Marine Corps survey of 53,000 Marines, 17 percent of male Marine respondents said they would likely leave the Corps if women move into combat positions. …
According to the Associated Press, male Marines listed fears of being falsely accused of sexual harassment, fraternization, other Marines getting preferential treatment, and having to deal with pregnancy or personal issues that could affect the unit before they are sent to the battlefield.

Isn’t Obama awesome – gets the military to downsize of their own accord!

Obama wants to fire 20,000 Marines. Here’s his way to do it.
Washington Nearsider on February 2, 2013 at 10:10 AM
Perfect, the Marines are planning to reduce the ranks…
astonerii on February 2, 2013 at 10:11 AM
So get rid of 20,000+ Marines and replace them with Grrrl Power Marines and let the remaining men take up the slack?
sharrukin on February 2, 2013 at 10:15 AM
What percent of female Marines don’t like the idea?
forest on February 2, 2013 at 10:16 AM
That’s the 17% that are willing to answer the poll honestly.
dogsoldier on February 2, 2013 at 10:36 AM
17% would quit at the outset- 50% once casualties were realized.

That was the plan all along. There will be cuts with Sec Def Hagel and more flexibility. If it is done by something with a fancy name like sequestration or something like self-attrition it will happen.

I was in the Air Force during the first Gulf Ware (the fun one). I remember all the problems the Air Force was having with woman getting pregnant during the 6 month build up (hmmm bad choice of words). They did everything they could to keep it hush hush since many were officers. And this was happening when they had separate “dorms” in Saudi Arabia. Curious whats going to happen when they are forced to sleep together out in the middle of the dessert in some forward base.

The ONLY thing the left can CREATE,as servants to the Prince of Darkness, is DESTRUCTION.

Despite how woman and politicians might feel up to it, you just can’t turn off hundreds of years of men being conditioned as the protectors. It puts everyone in danger when they feel a special need to protect some of their fellow soldiers beyond the others and greater hurt if they feel they were unable to protect them.

Yep, I think The Won considers this a feature not a flaw.
Cindy Munford on February 2, 2013 at 12:03 PM
Why are people attacking only the Left on this?
Republicans are okay with this as well. I can’t think of a single Republican who has spoken out forcefully against this, and the party as a whole has supported both this and repeal of DADT- either supported it vocally or implicitly by silence.
sartana on February 2, 2013 at 12:24 PM
As in the service industry, those that call in the work order get the bill. I don’t think you will find any on the Right calling this in. (Republicans, I don’t know.)
deptofredundancydept on February 2, 2013 at 12:48 PM
They’ve surrendered completely and it happened some time ago. It’s a complete waste of time for Conservatives to continue working through the Republican Party. Sooner for some, later for others, but it will be clear eventually.
I actually agree with Biden on this- it’s not our fathers’ GOP.
And I agree with the White House- it must be destroyed.
But it’s wrong to say that the GOP has surrendered. It has committed itself fully to advancing the agenda of the Left. This should be clear with the renewed assault via this new Amnesty bill. By the end of it, the GOP will have proven to be just as tyrannical as the Democrats and actually more so as this Amnesty would be more damaging than anything that came from the Pelosi/Reid 111th.
We need to to something about this, now.

I agree with you on a national level. But there are a lot of state level actions that are consistent with the GOP platform. How do we reconcile this?
cptacek on February 2, 2013 at 1:03 PM
I didn’t say that very clearly. Many state level Republicans are more conservative than their national counterparts, and the delegations are getting more conservative every election. I don’t think we want to jettison those gains. So how do we keep the state gains and stop the national betrayals?
cptacek on February 2, 2013 at 1:08 PM
Come home. We need you here.
vityas on February 2, 2013 at 1:09 PM
Similar things were said about quitting if DADT were repealed. It was repealed. Did all of those people leave?
tneloms on February 2, 2013 at 1:21 PM
Who knows and would they admit it?
Cindy Munford on February 2, 2013 at 1:25 PM
It’s simple- they join the new party. And once people see the way the GOP joins with the Democrats to destroy the fledgling new party, they will leave the Republican plantation in droves and join up with the new. Many Independents who identify as such out of disgust with the GOP will also join. Many Dems and currently unregistered voters will also come over when they see that someone is finally taking a stand against big government greed and corruption, regardless that they might disagree with some of the new platform.
Couldn’t.Be.Simpler
Once it happens, people will not believe that they allowed themselves to be snookered for so long.
