Romney campaign quietly gave $90,000 to Red Cross for Sandy relief
Neither Romney nor his campaign publicized the donation, despite liberal allegations in the days before the election that he had used the Red Cross as a political prop.

Yeah, but how much of that was pork?
davidk on February 1, 2013 at 3:02 PM
Maybe we would’ve heard about this if underaged hookers were involved. Romney’s got that R after his name, y’know.
apostic on February 1, 2013 at 3:04 PM
What a cheapass, that Romney. Didnt he know that Emperor God-King Obama generously donated SIXTY BILLION to Sandy victims?
Jeddite on February 1, 2013 at 3:05 PM
Yeah but President Bomber Jacket had a romantic stroll on the beach with Christie.
That was way more productive.
mudskipper on February 1, 2013 at 3:05 PM
A very nice gesture.
Romney should have shoved all $90,000 in to Chris Christie’s pie hole to shut him up.
portlandon on February 1, 2013 at 3:06 PM
Romney is a classy guy… Discuss. BTW, I wonder if Obama’s campaign gave any money to the Red Cross.
Illinidiva on February 1, 2013 at 3:06 PM
Wow, MSNBC assured me that Romney violated some law or something for giving canned foods and not money to Sandy victims.
Raquel Pinkbullet on February 1, 2013 at 3:07 PM
But, but, he sent jobs over seas when he wasn’t even working for Bain!!!!1!1!
jawkneemusic on February 1, 2013 at 3:09 PM
Of our money… Wonder if Organizing for America gave a donation.
Illinidiva on February 1, 2013 at 3:10 PM
Romney is so much finer a man than Obama that words fail me.
radjah shelduck on February 1, 2013 at 3:11 PM

Flapjackmaka on February 1, 2013 at 3:14 PM

That … BASTARD!!
PerceptorII on February 1, 2013 at 3:20 PM
There are a lot of things Romney did throughout the campaign and throughout his life that he should have publicized. Probably cost him the election that he didn’t – remember the old “cares about people like me” numbers.
Humility doesn’t win you elections in this country.
KingGold on February 1, 2013 at 3:20 PM
He should have taken the salary from most of his “consultants” and donated it as well. Or used it to buy a clue. Either, or.
besser tot als rot on February 1, 2013 at 3:26 PM
Unfortunately you are right as of right now. The massive fall of our most celebritized politician ever is probably the only thing that will fix this horrible trait of a decisive slice of American voters.

So? Obama sh!ts unicorns. No contest, really….
CantCureStupid on February 1, 2013 at 3:34 PM
This was after Romney lost the election.. on November 30th. But yes, you are completely right about that one. Romney isn’t suited to the American Idol politics.
That was why I was asking about OFA. It seems that the class is shown in these sorts of things.
Illinidiva on February 1, 2013 at 3:37 PM
Romney has binders full of charitable donation receipts …
Pork-Chop on February 1, 2013 at 3:38 PM
Romney didn’t do the only thing that mattered: win.
ElectricPhase on February 1, 2013 at 3:52 PM
90K isn’t that much really. It’s certainly less than his fair share. I have it on good authority that he donated nothing to Sandy relief in the entire decade before the storm.
Nick_Angel on February 1, 2013 at 3:58 PM
this is a perfect example of why Mitt lost.
He didn’t think of things in political sense. If you are going to donate then let people know. You will get blamed for it anyhow by the press. Who cares. the people see that you cared. Also why would his campign do it and not himself. He is worth multi-millions why take the money from his supporters that gave it to him to win an election. If he wanted to give money give it from his wealth not his supporters.
Mitt was the worse candidate in history how anyone could have thought this idiot would beat Obama still amazes me.
unseen on February 1, 2013 at 4:03 PM
oh good lord! humility? seriously? You have an out and out marxist who favors the muslim brotherhood in office and you think humility should be at the top of the list of characterics that should win in politics?
humility is fine in politics and in elections if the other guy is also humble.
That’s the same type of thinking that got us 10 years of fighting in Iraq and Afganistian.
You have to fight your enemy on their terms. Not try to be “above it all”
Obama operates from the saying if they bring a knife you bring a gun. Mitt operated from the concept if they bring a gun you bring flowers.
unseen on February 1, 2013 at 4:09 PM
Isn’t that, like, more than the Obamas and Bidens have given to charity in their entire lives together?
CJ on February 1, 2013 at 4:11 PM
Read the story… He donated the money after the campaign – As in when there was no political gain at all. It would have been a crass political gesture to donate a large amount of money from the campaign right after the storm. And Mitt Romney has the right to do with the money what he chooses. Most politicians use extra money for future campaigns or to expand their influence.
Illinidiva on February 1, 2013 at 4:18 PM
He should have spent it on the campaign. Why leave any money on the table… to be donated later?
Fallon on February 1, 2013 at 4:24 PM
Because he got lots of that money late in the campaign (after The Debate) and couldn’t spend it in time and because Romney is probably a smart money manager.
Illinidiva on February 1, 2013 at 4:32 PM
So what? You think the people going without power and food would have cared that is was a “crass political move?”
He would have got a lot of politcal points from flyover country for helping the victims of the storm. Instead he once agains allowed the Media to dictate his actions. If I was Mitt I would have gave $1million of my own money and I dam sure would have let everyone know I was doing it. Crass politcal move? sure but you are running form POTUS afterall it is a politcal campaign. Obama’s visit and promise of help was nothing more than a crass political move. Who won the election again?
unseen on February 1, 2013 at 4:35 PM
LOL…..sure that’s why he lost.
He could have spent the money on walking around money (I mean gotv money)like the dems do in places like Philly. Hell he might have even spent some money to test his GOTV system.
unseen on February 1, 2013 at 4:38 PM
Romney won flyover country. He lost the swing states.
Illinidiva on February 1, 2013 at 4:38 PM
last time I looked most of the swing states are flyover country.
OH, IN, WI, MI, IA, NV, CO all flyover country.
unseen on February 1, 2013 at 4:40 PM
Then that’s where the smart money manager should have spent the remaining money (that his supporters donated to his campaign).
Fallon on February 1, 2013 at 4:43 PM
Weren’t we stupid Mittwits told that winning isn’t everything?
Anyway, you sound unhinged. You can’t get over the fact that Romney is a decent man and not the ogre you want him to be.
Gelsomina on February 1, 2013 at 4:46 PM
I’m sure Obama is a decent man doeesn’t mean I would ever vote for the marxist. the mittbots cost us a great deal besides allowing the worse POTUS to win a 2nd term. his coattails were short costing us a lot of down ticket elections. His policies and platform pushed the GOP more to the left allowing the GOPe and easier route to cave on everything inclusing gun control and taxes.
Next time before nominating a liberal like Mitt because some liberal poll tells you too take a look at his/her record of accomplishments. he passed Romneycare what part of that told you he could win a general election when Obamacare is one if not the most hated bill in American history?
unseen on February 1, 2013 at 4:51 PM
Because the rest of the field was oh so strong…. Michelle Bachmann and her fake constituents or Newt Gingrich and his many ethical problems would have done even better than Romney in a general election. sarc off//
When a evilll centrist Republican beats a cloned version of Reagan, then you can whine about RINOs all you want. Until then, please spare us.
Illinidiva on February 1, 2013 at 5:03 PM
What’s the difference between Romney and Obama?
Two letters.
CLASSOne seeks self aggrandizement and the other takes the humble route.
I wasn’t 100% on board for Romney, but there are few on this earth who could match his character.
Glenn Jericho on February 1, 2013 at 5:10 PM
Obama is not a decent man. Call me old fashioned, but I think that character should count in politics.
Is there anything that isn’t Romney’s fault? Finding a scapegoat is nice, but you should send it into the desert already. Let it go.
Gelsomina on February 1, 2013 at 5:11 PM
Mitt Romney is a very noble person..This donation shows it..
